I've also never had an issue with the Master Tempo, so I can say it's "fixed" or "better", but mine has always worked great. :) 

Ok well ive got home from work and just updated both my 900's. Looking good, MT is now usable it seems! pitching up tracks by 4% and they sound in key with no drifting or the "double hit" i was hearing before. Beat matching is also as easy with MT on as off. MASSIVE improvement. Well done pioneer.... Took a while mind you but at least its an a very important issue resolved.

I updated only one of my CDJ-900 to be able to compare the difference in MT between FW 4.5 and 4.10, however then it's not allowed to link 2 CDJ's with different firmware versions together. After thinking about how to test this, I ripped a CD-track on a USB-stick (wav file) so I could play the same track on both CDJ's without linking them. Then I adjusted both CDJ's to tempo -2% and started the track on both of them simultaneously with MT off. I adjusted the tempo until the sound was phasing on the higher frequencies, so they were exactly in sync. Then I switched on MT only on the CDJ with 4.5. Immediately I could hear the phasing effect going in and out, without changing the tempo on both of the CDJ's, which means that the beats were shifted back and forth, which was called "jitter" by Pioneer. Afterwards I inversed the MT on both CDJ's, so MT on only at CDJ with 4.10. Now the phasing was much more stable around the same frequencies. So indeed, MT with FW 4.10 is much more stable and also with less artifacts in the audio signal. Now some beatmaching tests, but I'm already very happy with the results of 4.10 !

updated both cdjs to 4.10 though dont use MT. Seem really smooth and accurate. did pioneer make any other adjustments to accuracy without MT?

can only see the MT pitch drifiting fixed yet my cdj900 accuracy with pitch control seems more solid. i also tested one deck MT on and one deck MT off and no drift.

Updated the cdjs with 4.10. Second time using them and noticed on the left deck that the bpm keeps going up and down when trying to beatmatch with the pitch fader(both with master tempo and without). With virtual dj, the left deck reverts back to the original bpm. Any suggestions?

Everything is normal. 900s are connected to VDJ via usb hub and I use a cdj-350 mixer.No Lan connection. Just tried the decks without VDJ and the left deck is doing the same thing.

Hi,I'd just like to throw in my two cents,I find the update to be of no effect in correcting the "Master Tempo" I'm mixing tracks at 165+ that are made of a bpm between 152 to 160,It would be nice to have the pitch of the tracks the same as what they are made,The sound is still wavy and all over the place,To be honest it just sounds absolutely terrible,While the "Master Tempo" might be X% more stable it is still completely unusable in my opinion.

But thank you to all the team for trying,don't get me wrong I really appreciate the updates but I feel that this will always be an issue until Pioneer maybe release the predecessor to the CDJ 900 with the needed update on the hardware or software to fix the issue completely and that will probably be years from now.

yes there is a noticeable difference.the phasing effect of two tracks playing simultaneously has undoubtedly improved but it is still not flawless.not to sound ungrateful here and i appreciate what the pioneer team have done but for quite a lot of money i spent on a pair of cdj 900's i expect that this problem will be utterly resolved.i wish the pioneer team all the best in finding the solution to finding a way to perfect the the quality of master tempo and look forward to get another update regarding this issue

i have just noticed on one of my decks which has 4.10 when i turn on the unit it displays "please wait" and an hour glass which dosnt dissapear until i turn off the decks. This has happened once before when i was using a usb stick and i was browsing through selections and the "please wait" appeared. I had to change to CD and back to USB to resolve. anyone else had this issue?

Hey Gavin man,I usually have it at +10,I find if it's 167+BPM there are a few songs that +/-16 is needed,They perform brilliant with the master tempo turned off,There is a little tiny drift at times.But not all times.But when master tempo is on it just goes f***in crazy. 

i am using rekordbox analysed files. the second time i had the "please wait" i had no device attached to the cdj 900 and had to turn off and on.

set up wise

2 x cdj900 linked through switch

1 x ecler nuo 4 mixer

usb sticks or play through rekordbox

anyone try playing 2 tracks simultaneously at the exact pitch on both decks will find when you use slip mode SAME problem is back from Version 4.0.0 as soon as you use slip mode the 2 track drift apart.........1 problem fixed another one back :(

yes firewall set up correctly and no configuration change for the last six months. Only happened a couple of times with the new firmware. hasnt happened since thankfully.

hi pioneer-  at what point will there be a recall issued for cdj 900 owners who have been patiently waiting for a firmware fix that adequately addresses the master tempo issue?   this is an ENORMOUS problem for people who spent in upwards of $2600 for a pair a year ago & hung onto them with the assumption that the fix would be elementary given how well master tempo has functioned on past cdj models (wonderfully).

i sing and dj with live (tuned) instrumentalists and beat-matching without master tempo obviously changes the pitch / tuning of a song.  these were specifically purchased for this scenario & i am still, after a year, not able to include these in my rig because of the master tempo issue.  is there another current model (850??) that has different physical components that eliminate the problem?   i don't feel comfortable even selling these used except to someone who would be using them specifically for cd timecode with serato / traktor etc.   i would expect pioneer to step up to the plate and  satisfy a long time customer by offering a replacement for a clearly defective product.

@ Gavin, have you found a soluton to the problem with slip mode and keeping the 2 CDJ's in sync? I haven't heard from you guys on this issue. (see above post from Roy)

@Gavin-  Thanks for your response.  The issue is still "choppy" playback when increasing / decreasing tempo with master tempo engaged on any type of file (mp3 or wav either on usb or cd are the 2 I use most), even after the 4.1 update.  I have a hard time believing it's not hardware related at this point.  It's an issue that MUST be addressed;  there are a LOT of frustrated customers out there.  If some solution is not found, whether through hardware recall or miraculous firmware fix in version 4.2, I can't see purchasing (or recommending) another Pioneer DJ product.   It's standard practice for automobile manufacturers to recall and repair defects in their product.  I again call on Pioneer to make the same commitment to it's customers.  It's hard medicine to swallow in the short-term;  the long-term damage could be catastrophic to the brand if the most basic and critical of functions of a ubiquitous media player are not brought to the level of functionality we've (your loyal customer / fan-base) come to expect / rely upon. 

Upgraded the Firmare of both of my 900's yesterday and have found no improvment to the MT issue. I notice the problem more when really speeding vocal house tracks to +10 and above but even when hardly sped up at all on +6 there is still the jittering.

At the moment the MT is not fit for purpose and on a £1000 machine it is unacceptable really. Please resolve this issue ASAP please Pioneer.

@ Chris, I find it hard to believe you don't here any improvement after upgrading to firmware 4.10, as many users above and myself, really did notice the difference in MT qualiy (less jitter). Don't get me wrong: I'm not saying it's perfect and as far as I can recall, my (sold) pair of CDJ-1000 MK3's performed better on MT.

At least for me, since 4.10 I can again use the MT function for beatmixing with the CDJ-900, although I rarely speed a track down or up by more than 5%. And yes, I think Pioneer should further improve the MT on the CDJ-900/2000.

@ DeAl - After using the new firmware for a week I can report that the MT is more stable the closer you get to 0%. At +6% its not that bad and I would probably use it if out gigging but beyond that (especially at +10 and above) its terrible. Your right what you said about the MT on the 1000's it was definitely much more stable and could be left on all the time without problems.

@ Gavin - I updated from 4.05 to 4.10.

@ Pulse - I tend to play at 132bpm and I have some tracks that are around 124bpm @ 0%. I could have the bpm lower and not use MT but surely thats the whole point of that facility isn't it?? 

To put it more frankly than Pulse, MT sounds terrible when used to the extremes. This has always been the case in CDJs. Digital artifacts. The general consensus in the community has been that +/- 6% with MT on is OK. Personally I turn it off at more than +/- 3% but that's just my preference. 

@ Chris - Don't expect to mix such varied bpms with MT on without sound degradation.Your choices are either putting up with the sound quality. Turning MT off. Pick tracks with bpm closer to the current track (duh). Or warp tracks before hand.

Thanks for the input guys. I didn't think that I was trying to use MT to the extremes but if keeping below +6 is the general view of the other users then I will try to work within that. Like I said in the earlier post I find 4.10 a damn sight better than 4.05 so at least things are progressing in the right direction.
