my 3 months old cdj 850 stopped working all of a sudden
when i switch the power on Disc,Browse,Vinly , Standy , Loop in and out along with beat select lights on
The display says DISC then musical notes............
rev, Play cue and track search doesnt work , usb and pc doesn't work
Unable to update the firmware coz usb is not working and when i put the usb stick it lights on but when i press usb stop nothing happens
Is there any other way to update the firmware ?
Is is due to the standby light on all the time ?
I tried connecting it to my computer and nothing happens, Its not being detected

@djchennai > When did this issue start to occur? Is the unit not working AT ALL now? Did you eject the CD? Do you get an error code (e.g. e-XXXX)?
You could try re-flashing the firmware to the unit. To do this, place the unzipped firmware files on the ROOT of a USB stick. Then turn on the power of your CDJ Player while pressing both the "USB" and "RELOOP/EXIT" buttons. (Keep pressing until the “Power ON” indicator on the main display turns off.) When prompted insert the USB stick.
Thank you Gavin , i mentioned that nothing works except the cd and it doesnt change to usb or pc mode
before posting in this form i have tried all steps to update the firmware as per pioneer dj update and
thats what you have mentioned too, But when i press usb and relopp exit , nothing happens ?
@djchennai > Ok, let me open a ticket for this and see what the engineers instruct.
@djchennai > Here's some information from one of the engineers responsible for this product:
"If a CD is still in the player, please eject it before updating the firmware.
If the disc is not ejected even if you press [DISC EJECT] button, please follow the instruction below as well as the online manual for CDJ-850.
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/StaticFiles/Manuals/DJ/CDJ-850_OperatingInstructions120811.pdf
1. Turn off the power of CDJ-850 and ensure that no CD rotating sound is heard.
2. Find a disc force eject pin mounted on the bottom panel of CDJ-850.
3. The disc can be ejected forcibly by inserting the disc force eject pin into the pin insertion hole on the main unit’s front panel.
4. Update the firmware.
After you have gone through the above steps, if you still cannot update the firmware, please check the following because how LEDs are lit seems to be weird.
When the auto standby function is turned on, the standby mode is set automatically when the deck is untouched for 4 hours and all the lights are turned off except Standby LED, which should not be lit simultaneously with Disc, Browse, Vinyl, Standby, Loop in and out or beat select lights.
If this happens, something is wrong with the unit."
In such a situation, we would have to advise you to take the unit to an authorized service centre for repair. Given that you purchased the unit 3 months ago, it is still well within the warranty period.
Not lucky , i live in inida and i purchased it in singapore when i went there 3 months back . Cant send it to singapore shipping will cost me a bomb and
dont know any authorized service center in india ?
This is really why we encourage to buy the units within your area - to be covered under warranty.
I've dug up the service centre in India for you:
Rivera International Ltd ( DJ Equipments )
Office No 7, 397
A-1B, Mangaldas House
Naaz Cinema compound,
Lamington Road,
Grant Road (E)
Mumbai-04
E-mail: riverainternational@gmail.com
Thank you Gavin, They are the authorized dealers , i know them and i dont think they will be able to service it anyways i have no other options left than trying Rivera International.
Most of them i know atleast 50% of the pioneer users either buy it when they travel abroad or they buy it in Grey Market illegally smuggled without invoice.
A pair of pioneer cdj 350 cost 2000$ with tax and invoice. With that much money one can travel to singapore or dubai and spend 3 days and also buy the same equipment . Pioneer sponsored holiday lol
Im planning to open up an online pioneer dealership in india haha id be able to do sell more with lille less profit.
Haha, best of luck with that!
My worst fear is that , Now the player is switching on and plays cd , rest everything is like frozen
but once i give it to the indian authorize dealer or any technician , they might brake it completely.
Is there any chance that i can ship this to usa and get it serviced ?
Or the better option would to be sell it on ebay and buy a new one
If they break it further, its their responsibility to return the unit to you as they received, at the very minimum.
Yes is usa it happens but not in india . Not to forget that its not under indian warranty and they will jus simply say that they received ( Not working conditions ) . Thats something worrying me . i even tried my luck unzipping the firmware update and burned that unzipped update in a cd and then i thought if i get lucky the update might work , remember updating my old denon 4000 and dns 5000 , had no luck with cdj850s.
They are a trusted, authorized Pioneer dealer so if you were to encounter issues we can escalate the issue with HQ to find a resolution to the problem.
The method for updating CDJ850s is different to older models (CDJ1000s etc). You can find the detailed instructions of how to do so here:
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/ephox/StaticFiles/PUSA/Files/CDJ-...
yes after doin all it didnt work so i thought burning the update on a cd i might get lucky.
I have successfully updated my Djm 900 nexus & Djm T1 firmware updates with out any problems
i think if i update the firmware it might work well coz the cd read and also mp3 plays well
unable to switch to the USB or PC mode , i even tried connecting my macbook installing with the update tool for cdj 850 but it didnt detect my mac
Again, I'm afraid your only option is to get the unit serviced.
