Hey List,
Been very pleased with my units until the past couple of weeks. At my video gig on Friday, the X1's took about 1 minute loading the dvd discs. One time the dvd sat there trying to load for about a minute then finally showed a circle in the center of the dial and no other info. Another time I played a song that stopped in the middle of the track. What could be going wrong here??

T, I seem to be having issues similar(not with the loading wait time) but stopping. I have had a few times where I would be scratching the next vid in, and it would just stall and not play?????

Whoa, that doesn't sound good. I haven't had those problems yet. In fact I haven't had the previous problems (that was talked about a few months ago) in a long while. I'll keep you guys posted. What kind of DVDs were being played? DVD-Rs? POs? I do know one thing, if you make any custom DVDs, don't put an animated menu on it or it will throw it out of DJ mode.

Problem happened with both Promo Only DVD's and CD's and with older ETV DVD's. Really freaked me out because they have been so rock solid up to that point. Karl, any ideas on this issue????

hi folks,

i did have the stopping problem in the middle of a track twice in one night - then i worked out that for the first time in 18 gigs i have done with the units, it was the first time that one of them was not plugged in to my power surge protecter adapter, so it could be that ! let me know if this could be the case because for a few weeks after it made me feel very insecure..

peace

So I'm a little confiused. You think it may have been a power issue with the X1's, that may make sense as I did have 2 power amps on the same line as my X1's the night I had all the problems. Any of the moderators on the forum reading this post? Karl, have you had any problems like this?

What's Pioneer's service like on these when it's in warranty and how long does it take to send out and get back? I'm using mine 3 nights this wkd, but not again for 2 weeks. I'm wondering if I expedite them to Pioneer if they'll do the same shipping them back?

Yeah, I remember talking about power being a possible factor with the CDJs as well. It wouldn't surprise me if it happened on the DVJs. I never run amps or lights on the same circuit. Anything that fluctuated in draw (bass amps & lights that chase or turn on & off). What I use to notice on my CDJs is that when I had a "questionable" cd (possibly dirty or minor blemish, or scratch) it would act up and then I would also notice that I didn't have a clean power source. When I put the same CD in and it had a clean power source, it seemed to be fine.

I would call Pio first to talk to them about the scenario first to see if they have had any calls. They may give you an answer before you send them in. I would hate for you to have them out of service only to find out it could have been a power problem. Otherwise you could easily use two weeks to ship them, have them looked at and sent back. You should be able to get them shipped back to you express but I think you will have to cover it.
good luck.

Don't know what's going on with your players however you haven't responded to me about sending them in so we can look at them. This was regarding a platter issue you were having.

I experienced similar problems on one occasion and found it to be lack of air flow around the units which in turn overheated the players to the point that you could not put your hand on the bottom of the player

Hey Karl,
Sorry never saw your post. I'm going to send them in after our crazy season is over 2nd week in June. I called Pio service and they told me it could take up to 3 weeks for the units to be looked at & returned. I have a slow second half of June so I;ll send them in then. That may make sense about heat related problems with our case design from asa case co. So you haven't had any related issues with the unit stopping or freezing or the unit not starting right back up again without pause after you scratch?

Hi All,

I'm having similar problems. Sometimes the DVJX1 decides not to read the disc and spits it out.

I agree with the overheating idea as it doesn't happen until well into the gig, but! I have also noticed that it doesn't like menus with moving images as previews.

It definitely is down to the quality of DVD used to burn graphics.

I also noticed a skipping sound when playing discs, it doesn't seem to affect the playing of the dvd but there must be something going on. The start of a fault maybe????

It still works ok 70% of the time but is prone to flipping out every now an then. An intermittent fault which is a pain!!!

Cheers,

Warren

I will attest that the deck will do WHACKY stuff when the CUE/PLAY buttons get worn. I thought for sure my decks were in bad shape and after rotating both through the shop and got them cleaned and the buttons fixed, they are like BRAND new again.

Of course both of mine were from 2004, early 2005 and probably should have been in the shop long ago. From now on I plan on rotating them through the shop yearly to prevent some of the more embarrassing flubs caused by needed maint.

Of course I can only speak for the X1s. I did pick up a single 1000 to cover when the others are in the shops.
