i am not completely sure, but i know for a fact that a friend of mine was turned away at the border. he was booked to dj at some club in Vancouver, but i guess he did not have a Canadian work permit to do so. |

There is the whole "work permit" thing but as far as the gear's concerned, I know going Canada > USA you can get a "product export form" which basically says that you owned the gear before you left the country. You note down all the serials and whatnot and the customs officials get a copy and you get a copy. When you cross back if there's any troubles, you show the paper.
The only other thing to consider would be whether or not your insurance covers your gear across the border. Pioneer National Trainer // Product Specialist |

The answer is you don't.
Just like we can't come down into the states without a work visa, you can't come up here without a work visa. You can try and talk to the government (find the local canadian embassy) but I'd be willing to be they'll pretty much say "yeah, sorry, no". -r- |

"strick"? Yeah, they're certainly less "strick", whatever that is.

FBI != Canadian government. If he manages to persuade our side that you should be allowed to work here, then I'll be impressed, and a little scared.
Look man, I've done my fair share of crossing the border - we're talking roughly 20 times in a year. They don't look too kindly on people crossing to work, going in either direction. Performer or not, you have to have a visa to work here unless you lie to them - which, you're welcome to try. I know this both from experience and from having shows by big name DJ's canceled because they couldn't cross the border legally. I'm not hating, I just know my border. Probably better than you do. -r- |
