Hello,

As part of my payment for renting my DVJ to a DJ for a fashion show event...they decided to purchase a road case for me for my DVJ. Looking for suggestions from people as to where they've got their cases made or if there are cases ready to go. Located in Vancouver, Canada....but if it has to come from timbuktu then I'll make them pay the shipping too!!

thanks

Kerry - try Dinosaur (Vancover) or Clydesdale (Toronto). They're great cases.

Both Road Ready and Odyssey have them has stock cases. I use both brands and both are good but I would say road ready is better but heavier.

Thanks for the info.

Now is there any concerns with the DVJ over the CDJ-1000 mk2 which most case builders are used to. I know the size is slightly different but I remember reading something about some heat/air concerns with the DVJ over the CDJ? Anything else to consider when talking with the builders?

thanks

Yeah the DVJ's need some more breathing room. The specs for space needs are in the manual I believe.

I have a very nice custom case that holds 2 dvjs a 3 lcd screen and a MX-4 mixer on right and DJM-300 on the left. I am goign to buy the new DJM-800 mixer and will have to sell the case as it will not fit the new mixer so I will sll this cheap to a DVJ owner - keep it in the fam. The new 800 looks like the bomb. Check out my website www.clubsac.com I am doing 3 gigs a week now! I with Promo only and now VMSmedia.com check out the clubs I just did in my pic gallery on www.clubsac.com They are lovin me in the town I was the first vj to get TELL ME WHEN TO GO!

Cool website dude! I wish to achive something similar here in NYC like you did on the west, via spinning mostly dance and house. You are a real pioneer to get 1000 clubbers to enjoy videos like that.
I respect it.Dieseljoe

I like your setup! I think if you are buying djm 800 you might want to have two cases one for 2 dvjs and 800 and another for your video mixer, effects and other small gears...since the 800 has midi controler you don't even need to manually control the the video switch (provided your video switcher has midi input) , if you program it right the switcher randomly selects transition for you so you will not need to monitor that much. The fact is, you will not make much sense out of any video transition unless it is done like the power sets in promoonly. The basic transitions are all you can do on a live mix unless you have a dedicated video mixing help, which is a whole new production in sync with the dj. Anyway the idea of spliting the two is also helpful for transportation....

Note:
Actually you're not the first vj in the bay bro.... I don't know about sacramento . . . but in the bay I started out back @ the Oaktree playin' promoonly hot videos in '99....anyway this is not the place for this discussion...on another post you said "the problem here is the market is very tough" but taking as much gear as you do I think anybody will love you for $400-$600 a pop... your setup is @ least worth $2500/night it will be harder for you down the line to do any gig with less equipment as you have spoiled the promoters . . . I used to charge $300 just to have music video running on a screen while they have djs spining records on their own sound system. You are selling yourself short. All I had to do was plug in a projector on the wall and connect a home dvd player, give them two dvds and am gone. It might be a good way to get into the market but watch out not to be taken too much advantage off. goodluck bro.

I got tired of waiting for someone to make a REAL CASE for the DVJ's so I am having Road Ready custom make a case. The new model number will be:
RRDJDVJ19W
It will hold a DJVX1, 19" MIXER or Edirol V-4 & DJM707/909, DVJX1 plus a triple screen monitor. It will also have three removable panels in the front and wheels for easy transportation. If anyone else wants to order one it should be completed around March 25th.

Let me know how it turns out. I had odyssey make one for me but they didnt' accomidate for the angle on the DJM 1000. So I ended up returning it and getting my money back since they wouldn't fix it correctly. I need one badly found that out tonight after putzin around with single cases.

They sent me a fax of the new case. From the side view it is supposed to angle the DVJ-X1's. Also notice it will hold a 19" mixer or the DJM707/909 and Edirol V4 because the width of the DJM707/909+EDIROL V4 is just shy of 19". The Area for the monitors is not angled though. I planned on buying a triple monitor that sits flat and then angles. Also it has a large removable area for the1 19" space so you can access any equipment that you choose to put in the 19" area. Also it is to have a built in surge protected power strip and quick plug outlet in the back. I just want to set the case down, plug in my power cord to the back of the case. Lift of the lid and hook up the video out of the Edirol V4 to my projector(s). Quick set up like the old days when I had two CDJ-700'S, DJM300 in a small case with built in power and headphone jack. That was the best - I miss that case / system and now I am getting it back just with the DVJ's. The power outlet and headphone jack are extra if you want them. I hope it turns out ok too. I will let you know and post pictures when I get it. Also I like my Edirol V4 on the left and my mixer on the right. I scratch left handed only.

I'm trying to price out for a coffin, and need some direction and pricing. I do not want to do separate cases and have to patch everything in for each gig.

To get a Road Ready case, can I just ask RR for item number RRDJDVJ19W?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
