I have 5 DVJ-X1's and all five of them have been in the shop...all with the same issue. The tac pad under the play/pause and cue loops buttons just stop working. This happens about every 6 months and is really a big pain in the ...well you know where. I keep talking to Pioneer Tech support about this and all they every say is that there are no technical bulletins out there about this.

So first off, is anyone else having this issue. Either it is an issue, or I just happened to buy 5 seperate DVJ-X1'a with the same problem...at different times.

The problem I have now is that I have 2 down at the same time and am short another player. So I have to either go buy a sixth player (which would really piss me off) or try to find one to rent.

Any one know where I can rent one for the 4-6 weeks it will take Pioneer to fix my other players. (the long turn-around time also sucks, but that's another rant for later)

Thanks guys!

It's funny to hear you say that when they're the same parts as used in the CDJ1000's and there are far more of those out in use which are abused nightly.

Perhaps you're a bit more heavy-handed than other DJs?

I'll pass this issue along to the engineers to see if they have anything to say about it.

Actually I have the same issues with most of pio's CDJ style players.

However we have 10+ units and 30+ dj's and most of the players get abused nightly, or nearly so. I know many of our guys are heavy handed, but the buttons do wear down over time. That said, I had a pair of 1000's (mk1's) that I owned for well over 2 years, that got abused pretty much daily or close to it, and I never had that issue once with them. But I'm gentle with my gear Smiler

Do pass it on, P. Thanks!

I do use the buttons a lot and after it happened the 2nd time, I tried to me more "gentle" with the buttons, but..

Thanks for passing it along Pulse. I would be interested in seeing what they have to say. I have one sitting here right now I need to ship that has the exact same issue as well as a new issue that just cropped up last night. Song was playing, full floor of maybe 500 people when all a sudden the song starts stuttering in the same place. Then all of the buttons would not work, no eject, no pause, no track advance, nothing. I turned the power off twice with no difference. Finally I unplugged it and when it came back on it worked fine for the rest of the night. But man it sucks when this happens with a full house.

Other than that it was a great night!

I wish that Pioneer had an option for a rush repair option. Some of us use this equipment in places where you just cannot be without it for 4 to 6 weeks at a time and it's very frustrating to have to wait that long.

In most cases it's just a matter of not having parts.

I would love to be in charge of overhauling MANY companies' repair network. It really wouldn't take too much to have two or three major repair shops and have the ability to provide the repairs and service in an orderly fashion, especially for DJ gear where in a large number of cases the owner uses that equipment to make his living.

So with no time until my next gig, Pioneer wins again. I have now purchased my 6th DVJ-X1. 3 located in a club and 3 for my mobile system.

Pioneer if you are listening please give us an upgrade to the DVJ-X1's to stay competitive with Serato VJ

Ryan,

I have posted above (and in other places) that the lack of multiple loops is a big difference in creating on-the-fly mash-ups. With Serato you can have 5 loops per song...with the DVJ's you can have only 3 loops per DVD.

I do not create my mash-ups ahead of time like others do because I like to be more creative in the moment, not play pre-conceived sets.

Not really sure where your comment comes from since you state you have CDJ players and not DVJ players. Maybe you just don't know the difference between playing video and audio.

You can have more than 3 per DVD, just store them as memory points and call them up, it's REALLY not that hard.

Pulse,

Memory points are not hot cues. What would be nice is that you selected a memory point for a specific track number and the would then load up to 3 hot cue points.

The problem with memory points is that they take too long to load...unless I am doing something wrong.

Pulse, I knew you'd notice the fuscia, but did you see what I did with the cooling fins?

Yep - I also love how the USB ports are inconveniently located to the right of the player so those DJs who scratch on the left deck will certainly knock out the flash drive connected to the player. Red Face
