I figured I'm not the only one. Getting remixes for tracks then making the remix video is very time consuming but rewarding. Giving my audience a tricked version of the video they know or making a video for a track that has no video takes the game to the next level. This is really an exciting time to be in this business.

i mainly do some 12" versions for 80s video i like a LOT. it is a lot of effort though and i pretty much sit on them for my own use. it's pretty cutthroat around here in Tampa and anything original you definately don't want to share.

Hey guys, this is my first post, but I am feeling all of you. This new extension of Dee Jaying, although some would say it's not new, (the technology is far advanced compared to the birth of the 1200) and that is where we are. I just watched Scratch today, it's been 4 or 5 years, and I realized we are still at the foundation of the future of DJing. I too am having to learn to edit and extend mixes and create visuals and time is scarce. But some of us are doing it for more than just money I hope. Whether it is sound only or video & sound, we do it because we enjoy it and yes it is taking more time than I ever expected, just preparing footage or simply (hah) converting video tapes to dvds and sometimes re-tracking the audio. I have so much more respect for 2nd nat, and rooney now. They are truly dedicated, but it is all in where you want to go with this. In Scratch, DJ Shadow made the comment about how before the scratch piklz came out and wanted people to take what they had done and do better, people would cover their record labels so people couldn't bite. I remember those days, house parties and clubs in the early 90's where DJ's didn't want you to even know what records they played. But people started working together and turntablism grew exponentially, by the end of the 90's turntables were out-selling guitars in the US and UK! We are responsible for what will become of this blooming future. I just realized that I combined my response with the post I read for Vjing is dead. Sorry.

I believe that we are at the edge of changing the business. We had to jump off the cliff and buy the DVJ's because we knew it was the future of the business. Just like covering the labels back in the day, we are making our own videos to trick our shows so no other dj's can bite. I dig working together but this video thing is set to explode. Once Pioneers compition start building better video units, the bottom feeders are going to saturate the market. A rival club in my area has a DJ that plays a premixed PROMO video every week since I have been doing videos. Editing remixes with video is the new frontier.

...at that really is the shizzle for dizzle with a bit of razzle dazzle!

I know, an old post...

Anyway, VMS Media (http://www.vmsmedia.com) has the VJ Tools series that has a lot of good Premix stuff. They also remixed some tracks. I like this better than Promo Only's Mix Essentials. The Videos are high quality and so is the audio.

If you decide to order from them, ask for Duane and tell him you were referred by me - Gene Jone aka DJ G-funk. FYI, I am not affiliated with VMS Media in any way shape or form, I am just a happy subscriber. Nor am I financially benefitting by referring you to VMS. I just think their products are, well...'off the hook'.
