I am a new to the DVJ Video Djing world. I would like to simply make a back up DVD to use in my DVJ 1000. I dont want to ruin my master DVD disc.

I have read the forums tried Dj Exstractor, Virtual Dj DVD Ripper. I am able to burn these VOB/MPEG music videos to my hard drive. I can also see them and play them fine in Virtual DJ.

My problem is when I try to burn these same VOB/Mpeg video files to a blank DVD disc to use in the DVJ 1000. I get a an error message "Not Video Format"
I AM A PC USER USING WINDOWS XP SERVICE PACK 2

Please help me with these questions.

What PC, DVD software program is "EASY" to use to simply make a back up DVD of my Promo Hot Hits to use in my DVJ 1000?

Thanks,
Jeff

I can't believe this guy's post has had a combined 39 views to date and no one has replied...

Use DVD Fab Decrypter or DVD Shrink (just Google for it, you'll find them and they're free) to rip a disc image to your hard drive. Use Nero or whatever burning software to "Burn Image To Disc" then select the files in the folder that Decrypter or Shrink made (usually called "VIDEO_TS"). Make sure you put all of the files in there, besides the VOB's you need the .IFO and .BUP and anything else it might have made.

One thing you need to remember, if you're ripping a dual-layer DVD, you'll need a dual-layer burner and dual-layer blanks to burn them onto. If you don't have a dual-layer burner, then run down to your local gray-market computer shop or big box store and pick up a Pioneer-branded drive. They usually sell between $30 and $40 and work very well. I use them in all of my Macs and PC's.

The reason I didn't reply is because it's already covered in a couple of threads. Apparently someone didn't use the search feature. Razzer

Thank you Chrismo for sugggesting specific options. I down loaded DVD Shrink and copied a promo only disc, it copied the entre disc. I was unable select only specific tracks to be recorded. It their a way to choose tracks to be recorded in DVD Shrink? I have a Microboard DVD/CD burner and selected all the items you notated in your response, I then chose burn all the files to a DVD disc. Once the burn was completed I tried in my DVJ 1000 and once again got "Not a Video Format" error message on my Pioneer DVJ. I am unable to play it in the DVJ.

Do need to buy Nero to convert the video format to format that the VJ understands?

I also tried playing the burned DVD in my computer using Virtual DJ. I can play these rips off the disc in Virtual DJ with no issues. Some how I have to convert these VOB's to format that the DVJ will accept, that's the delema.....

From the begining I have asked is their 1 program that I can buy that will rip the DVD then convert it to a video format that I can burn a DVD back up of my Promo Only library?

I would also like it to be able to choose the specific tracks I want to burn. I am willing to pay I dont need a free copy of software to accomplish my goal of selecting indiviual tracks to be burned to a back up DVD disc that works in my DVJ.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Jeff
