I now wanna get back into it was wondering what most people would recommend... Vinyl or CDJ... Also whats the best way to start getting into this and learning everything about it..

I started with vinyl. It's good for training essential dj skills like your ears and beat mixing. If you want to learn more about djaying the internet has a wealth of information, escpecialy youtube which has good tutorials.

I'd go with CD.
You'd be hard pressed to find a club / bar that DOESN'T use cd's, some places don't even have tables, you'd have to bring your own. Also, the media is a hell of alot cheaper. Paying a buck or two for tracks off of Beatport or Juno beats paying $10 for a record. Also, if a cd gets scratched, you can just burn another one. Vinyl...not so much. |

I would go with CD too - it is the future of Djing and it seems to be where most of the technology is headed. If you are buying gear you want to make sure you are not limited in what you can do too.
I just bought a set of CDJ-400s 3 weeks ago and I love them. I put up 2 posts in this DJ101 forum that might help you. Check them out because I think they might make your decision easier. Lastly, the best way to learn is to read and read and read. Use the internet and definitely check out the Pioneer pro DJ site. The other place that has helped me a lot is Youtube. There is a person named Ellaskins that does a lot of tutorials and demos on the CDJ-400s and the DJM-400. I watched these before I bought my gear, and I have used them since as a learning tool as I am practicing and getting better. I hope this helps. Have fun mixing! |
