pick two of your songs at random and mix them with each other while their melodies or basslines are playing. Chances of picking two songs at random in a compatible key are quite slim!!!
Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
Either that or download one of the mixes on here from DJ Pulse. He knows nothing about harmonic mixing. Wink

Ya know something, I saw an add for a harmonic mixing chart on the net and I watched the sales video, it wasn't very cool. The songs were in key but they didn't work together at all. It sounded like a big mess of sounds that were in key together. A mess is a mess whether it's in key or not.

exactly. It's not just a case of getting two songs in compatible keys and slamming them together. As has been discussed in a recent topic on here, all of the other elements of one tune must fit with the other.
The key matching is just the icing on the cake.

Biggest thing in key is minor and major keys. Major keys sound more positive and upbeat like house music etc. Minor keys sound more ominous and dark like a lot of D&B, hard dance, and gansta rap. That will get you started. Then you just have to start playing the tunes side by side and do the rest by ear. Practice a lot and you will see what works. Don't waste your money on charts or internet education unless your ears stop working lol.

Bustdown:

To me clashing keys in mix transitions would sound like anything that is irritating, and NOT natural.

Ideally, when tunes with compatible keys are used in a transition, things can sound so good that one might not even notice that a song change occurred (try to mix two trance songs harmonically to test this).
