I am looking for ways to record my mixes. Back in the day I would use tape decks.
I just got back into mixing and bought some CDJ 400’s and a DMJ 400.
Can any one help me with ways to record my mixes? Confused

This is asked often... please use the search next time and you'd find we refer people to read this thread.

If you still have questions after that, then ask!

I don't have a computer at this time. I hope to be getting one just for mixing only. What cable do I need to use to hook them together. I am new at this so go easy on me.

You'll want more than just a cable in order to record to the computer, you'll also need a soundcard. If you just want to use software on the computer to mix, with the 2 CDJ400's you've already got 2 soundcards with outputs (no inputs tho).

Don't go for the Pioneer, although it's not bad the pioneer is the consumer version of the HHB line of CD recorders.
You want a pro CD recorder, big main difference is the cost of running it, with a consumer cd recorder you have to use special cd-r's which cost more due to licencing BUT with a pro cd recorder you don't pay that cos the idea is you record the original songs sooooo you can use normal computer cd-r's.
I would check out units from Marantz and HHB, personaly I would go for the marantz, usualy kicks the HHB sound wise.

That's exactly what I use, at it works quite well. You have to set the volume just right on the input of the PC, but that's a one time deal.

Not exactly. What you'll have to do is either

a) learn how to use a .cue file and a burning program that supports them or
b) manually cut the file into the tracks you want and burn them on the CD that way.

Here are parts 3 and 4 of my guide that deal with Audacity and burning CD's respectively. These haven't yet been totally finalized, so these links may go down, but the information is still good.

Part 3 (PDF - 1.1Mb)
Part 4 (Zip File - 500kb)
