Hey guys. I've been doing alot of research, and people have different opinions on this. should i spend more money on cdj's and a "worse" mixer, or get a better mixer and spend less on cdj's. I was thinking of getting a djm 800 or 700 and cdj200's or cdj 800mk2 and a djm 600 or 400. I just don't know what is better :S

i don't think i answered your Q properly. It all depends what your hoping to get pout of it. For example can you see yourself getting gigs and really making use of the euipment or is it just a pastime?

Can you actually mix on decks? I say this coz in your other post you say u want a mixer to dj off a laptop.....? If your a beginner cdj 200 and djm 400 is crying out for you

I was thinking cdj200's. I'm going to be bedroom DJing for a while, but then i'll Hopefully do parties and stuff (my mom can hook me up with that stuff, so getting gigs isn't a problem). However, I was thinking the 600 cause it has 4 channels, and is significantly cheaper than the 700, but now i know why. So i'm not sure about it. I would like to use my laptop for songs, like plug it in to the cdj's and play songs from it, but i doubt i can? *i don't know what to look for to enable it, but i don't think the cdj200's can; which i don't mind*.

if you want to play tracks from your laptop through your cdj then you'll have to get cdj 400's or else just get a sound card and play it directly from your laptop into one of your channels on the mixer

I think that a better mixer brings you to better mix quicker than better decks.
For example, a DJM-700 with CDJ-200 offers more options in your mixes than CDJ-800 that has scratch but nothing funnier Smiler
I personally have DJM-800 and CDJ-800 and don't find more interest in CDJ-1000 because some loops and cue points stored don't radically change your mixes Smiler

A DJM-600, 700 or 800 also allow more accurate mixes du to the better cueing system Wink

Well, i bought a djm 600 and a cdj 200. and i ordered another 200. I got the 600 because it was cheap, and I dont need good sound quality, as its just going to be played in my room for awhile. It was expensive though.. i spent like 1800 on the 2.. not including the 2nd mixer Frowner Ugg. I hope this works out.

Don't worry about anything.

CDJ200's are killers, and DJM600, even though old, is still an amazing mixer. You can do so much with them.

And Gribouille,
You might not see the point in upgrading to the 1000's but when I spin commercial music and do quick mixes, top40 songs, rnb, breaks, HOT CUE's are just absolutely amazing Smiler

Actually, I bought a pair of mk3's yesterday Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin (Fits well around the DJM-800) I finally found them some killer functions even for Electro ^^ (received one, and waiting for the second).
Two things that I noticed first when migrated from 800 mk1, 1000's vibrate a lot and generate much more noise than 800's which was quiet, but I know why and it's justified Smiler
Then played with Hot Cues loved them, very fast buffering, non-stop spinning, more accurate pitch, better loops, and all those little things Smiler Last thing I noticed, the platter seem to beat heavier than the one on the mk1 (800) even when set to "light".
So depending on your needs, both 800 and 1000 rocks Wink
