alright so i just got my turntables about a week ago and have been trying to make sense of them and i have been using a pair of the SONY MDR V600 and it's about 4 or 5 years old and have a lot of wear and tear use. i loved them, super comfortable great sound and they lasted this whole time and are working still. since i got my setup i want to purchase a new pair. i've been reading the forum and have been seeing some mixed reviews about everything. what would you guys overall think would be the best pair of headphones i know pioneers are good but have seen a lot of people saying they break a lot. what do you guys think?

I've broken 2 pairs of the HDJ-1000's. The sound quality on them is excellent though. My current pair (can't mention names, starts with a D) are ok...sound quality is meh.
It's tricky to get headphones since alot of places that sell them will not let you crack open the box and listen to them...which, of course, is the best way to test headphones. |

Don't read so deep into it... what it meant to "decode" as:
The engineers have addressed the breakage issue on the HDJ1000 and did a running-change on the materials so the newer units don't break. Pioneer National Trainer // Product Specialist |

As I said, I don't know - just buy a pair and try to break them within the first year.
Or pay by a credit card which offers a 1yr extension on the manufacturer's warranty. Pioneer National Trainer // Product Specialist |

I've had a pair of Sony MDR-V700DJs since they came out... must have been in 2000. They are still going strong today after years of lugging them around to parties, clubs, raves, etc.
I have used almost every brand and model by now, and I have to say, the Pioneer cans are some of the most comfortable and best sounding headphones I've ever used. I know a lot of people have had issues with quality control on the hinges, but I'd probably buy a pair today if I was in need. They sound amazing. |

I also have a S. MDR-V700 like 6 years ago without any issue.
I even had slept with them !!!! (In the good sense) I want to buy a Pio, Pulse mentioned the news does not break easily, but I'm worried the store still has old ones. Pulse please give us the manufacturing date codes. Is there a way to reinforce the headsets so they will last longer ???? |

I've had sony's, and tecnics because it's all I ever saw on most djays back before I spun. After trying on several, the best fit and sound was the hdj 1000's. I use the one ear-cup method when I play and it has the best fit and comfort for hours of use. all of us have different head shapes and the others like the tecnics will slip off or over-swivel and loose position from my ear. When I m trying to jog and pitch with both hands occupied, this is "Not acceptable"!! I dont care how expensive they are! I will be really upset if my cross-fade/transition is off by a distraction with gear malfunction. Yes, I did break my first pait of hdj's and I was warned by the GC salesmen but for a year of use at $169.00, it was well worth it and I had enough gigs/earnings to buy it by the "skid"!....j/k The sound is great even after the hinges broke but thing I would like to see is the rubbery anti-tangle cord of the tecnics on it and the "break-away" feature where it also detaches from the earcup. like the t*cn*cs.

David > Sorry, I don't have access to that info and I don't believe it's shown on the HDJ packaging anyhow.
