Overall your mix is pretty tight. Nice mixes. Not very entertaining. Same music, same technics, same mixes. Please do something else then just press buttons.

I only caught part 4/5 and liked it. The 30 second area had a little pitch glitch on speed, but overall good. i think the comment was leveld at the lack of excitement that you showed???? DJs expect other DJs to fire up like DJ Irene or get really animated when they mix especially if the music isn't big style.

The only advice I would give is to invest yourself more on a "feeling the music" level and focus on showing what your mixing- don't check the iPhone.. Wink

I also only caught part 4/5 you need to work on your beat matching. Don't just wait for the breaks at the intro/outro to mix. You have many points where you play with the efx. that will make good mix points. This is a good start take more time to learn your music.

OK we all start somewhere, I've been DJing for around 12 years now so I hope I'm not being too harsh.. but,
1)The Second Mix - Was not a mix it was stop start with echo, not entertaining and the messing around before that with the live cue was out of time, if you are going to do Live cue play's these need to be spot on..
2) Your song choices need to be better Get Get Down didn't go!!
3) Part3/5 4minutes the mix was completely out, you spent too much time on the phone :-)
4) Part3/5 6 minutes in the beeping part of the mix, it needed some effects to keep people interested
As you said the mix out failed but we all make mistakes, if it's out by a mile and you can't easily fix it, just cut your losses and move on, don't write the audience a message :-)
5) Part 5/5 1 min in, the beat mix was completely out

All this taken in to account it's not bad for a first mix, I wish my first mix was on Pioneer kit!!

Something that you need to take away from the forum is your Beat Matching needs a lot of work, you've got some nice equipment which make excellent effects but you need to spend 2-3 weeks not using any of them and concentrate on getting the mixes spot on first. As you are in your bedroom it doesn't matter how bad things sound so try and match a beat and mix it in, then leave both tracks playing full don't worry about any affects or taking the bass out, leave both tracks playing for 30s-1min and just listen it will probably sound absolutely rubbish!! but this gives you an idea of what a normal person hears when you mix in a song that isn't beat matched. The jog wheel should only be used to perfect a slightly out beat match. So what I'm trying so say is listen to the music for longer and harder in your headphones make sure it's matched then put the song in!!

As the others say you need to feel and connect to the music before you will know when and where to mix tunes in/out, this only comes with experience and lot's of practice!!

Anyway keep practicing
