Ok, I'm back from my hiatus. I've clearly been on 6 weeks diaper duty (and before that, labor was a BIAAAATCH!)

Anyway, thought I'd start a topic for a change. So, let's have a look at other DJ's ride - you know, the one you use to lug your gear around...

Here's my appropriately christened "NYC Vibe".

I manage to get a laptop, some control vinyl & cds, a TTM57 and if I have no passenger I can also get my CDJ1000s in there too. Completely practical!

2004 Chevy Trailblazer EXT (3rd row seat). It's actually REALLY nice. I can fit my 1000's coffin in the back without having to fold down the 2nd row of seats.

Yeah, I'm actually not a huge fan of GM cars like my Astro. But they're pretty good for hauling gear around and putting like 20,000 miles on per year. Dead cheap parts too! I can fit all my gear in mine if I take the 2 rear seats off.

That's like 2x B52 Matrix 1000s, 2x B52 Matrix 2000s, 2x B52 Matrix 200s, DJM/CMX-3000 combo oddyssey console/flight case with a DriveRack procesor and Monster power conditioner in there, 2x CDJ-1000s in their cases, 2x DVJ-1000s in their cases, Projector & Screen, 2x Martin MAC 250s in a rolling case, 2x Martin Mania SCX-600 in a rolling case, 1x Martin Wizard Extreme in it's case, all my stands (like 10 pairs in 10 On Satge bags), MY CDs and computer and still have a passenger in the front seat!!!

Now if only I could get it to run on vegetable oil...

I can't believe you can fit all in a van. It must be absolutely packed.

Oh yeah, you better believe it. The trick is to stand all the speakers on their castors, load up all the big/heavy stuff in first and then fill in the small spaces with all the other stuff like on-stage stand bags, etc.

Granted when it's fully packed, I can't even see out the rear window! Besides, I don't take all that gear to every gig. But trust me, you can fit a lot. You can fit even more stuff in the Chevy Express/GMC Savanna. I used to rent them from Enterprise before I bought my van. But the gas mileage on them is ridiculous especially when you're not gigging!

DO NOT RENT U-HAUL - EVER! There's so many problems with them, just Google and you'll find tons of horror stories.

What are you talking about, Pulse? How could there be a problem renting from a rental company?

what!!! you can fit all that in the van. Cool that you can do that, but sucks that you have to bring that much stuff to a gig.

Maybe its only a few of us, but by the end of the night after partying, the last thing i want to do is haul all that stuff back in the house.... unless of course you have a nice garage to put it in.

Damn. im tired just thinking of the lod and unload job you have to do.

I love my club gigs, because all i need is my bag full of music. in and out of there quickly!

I can tell you one thing about the people up there, they suck! People are so much nicer where I live in the south.

Anyway, local U-Hual rentals should be fine for me. I don't plan on traveling out of town with my gear. I need a truck to get my **** to local gigs, that's all. I'm not a working DJ. I strictly play underground dance music for myself, if people like it great, if not they can piss off.

To make a long story short, it costed me $165 to move from a 1 bedroom apartment to another using uhaul. THE MOST poorly operated scam artists in the world. Budget is not so bad though...

I had a 94 626, and cracked the windshield with 20 or so pieces of 16 foot long molding, so I know the car. But a full reception rig and some lights?

I say, I say, I say son... that just dudn't add up!
