So you've got your lovely industry standard equipment at home (or your only equipment).
You get asked to play at a bar but you have to take your gear in & rig up to their system.
You don't want to take your gear out of the house.
Would you invest in a buget setup so if anything happens (drinks etc), your still covered at home?

What gear would you buy cdj player & mixer wise?

You will find that this is not out of line most clubs will ask DJ's to bring there owne equipment. Ask the owner if they will cover your gear.

Don't get cheep equipment as you will sound cheep! Play with the gear that you know.

What type gear do you have I checked your profile and you dont have any listed?

The club I play in every now and again has CDJ200's & a DJM500, so I'm pretty much sorted but I bring in my CDJ800's just because I know them. But also the booth is raised above crowd so no real danger of spilt drink's etc. Wink

The beauty of the Pioneer players is that they all have the same layout. If your good on the 200, you'll get the 1000. But what you can afford and what you'll use for awhile. As stated above, cheap gear is never a good thing in a Club situation. Image and approach count in this biz.....

The 2 venues I play at I had the owner put a piece of plexiglass up on the front part of the booth so no one could reach over with a drink, cig, or touch the equipment. One venue has a Rane MP-44 + 2 CDJ 800s and the other has a DJM 600 + 2 CDJ 800s

Like everyone here says; best gear for the club because it's the last place you want to make mistakes or have gear malfunction. I personally pack my own gear but keep it simple and methodically planned out including my table which is a plyboard precisely cut and painted on an organ stand. with all the gear on it, it's weighted down and stays put. I don't like the bar's sound system which is a dated/worn jbl setup, all passives.I'm all powered mackies.
Because I'm old skool, I still pack 1200's in road cases.
people think I'm nuts but the crowd/following speaks for itself and I do this for the love of the craft and not the profit.
My belief is simple.Everytime it's my gig, I make sure the crowd gets the best show they can get in this sports bar.
My last real scenario I observed was a friend of mine who gigged at a new sports bar so I watched him one night. And a lot of my criticism had to do with his crap gear that was causing him mistakes. A crap pc that kept locking up and taking forever to reboot, Crap turntables that had inconsistensy, and a mixer that had no metering lights. all of these combined made him create bad habits just to compensate. So I was very cold blooded and blunt with him. I also told him that if this happened where I play at; you'll have beer bottles flying at you!!!
This is what you get for starting out cheap and not thinking that it was'nt going to evolve outside of your bedroom someday.
Last but not least, If you bring turntables out to a gig for status or show etc,,
"You better know how to use them" And that platter never stops turning all night!!
So this is my take on cheap gear!
Good luck dude.

I am back in clubland and club I sometimes play have a good soundsystems but they use Denon dual CD decks. I have a pair of CDJ1000's but I used my old CDJ100's on my first night.

I had fun altought I could not do all the tricks of the CDJ1000's.

Ahh why don't the owners of the club I'm resident at want to upgrade... I mean I'm using gear that's as old as CDJ1000 Mk I is... they have two CDJ1000's Mk I in there, and a DJM 500, with a dodgy booth knob, that crackles everytime i turn it, and i use a business card to move Channel 1's volume up and down because the previous DJ lost the thingy majig that fits inside there.(lucky I only use that channel for when I want a smoke and our automated DUMB{may I add} computer system plays some music for the crowd ha-ha, I pick the music of course, got to keep them happy)

Ok that is alot of rambling.

Any good venue tends to have a good out of the way dj booth. I wouldn't worry too much about your equipment until you find out how the club houses it's equipment.
