Hi,
First, look at the over all appearence of the unit, check for scratches, cracks, loose buttons, nobs, etc. If there are cracks, it may have been dropped... Next turn it on, listen to it, test out the features, looping, scratching, master tempo, pitch, etc. make sure they all work. If you have time, run the thing for a while to see how it sounds, does the CD load right? etc? Does it sound like anything is grinding? Bad? etc? After that shut it off and pick it up and kind of roll it in your hands a little bit, you're listening for loose parts / things rattling around in it. This may also indicate it's been abused. Other than that, if it works fine, and looks good... Well you know.. |

There are CDJ1000MK1s which are still in clubs since they were released many moons ago. They're reliable.
Unfortunately there is no way to see just how long a unit has been used for other than the visual wear-and-tear. Worst case scenario, it may need a cleaning and alignment. Pioneer National Trainer // Product Specialist |

all cdj's will have a serial number sticker either on the rear of the unit, or underside. This will have the date of manufacture, so you can get the age of the deck.
