When I'm doing a mix for a CD, I'll first go thru and find mixes I like, then string 'em together... so I've already done some practicing. Once I have the final order, I'll mix it once to make sure I like it, then I'll put it to bed.

If I'm recording a mix for fun, I'll just mess around playing whatever, recording everything first try. I find I get sweeter mixes with the unplanned.

I find the records i'm gonna play.. Then I just start mixing :-)

I have uploaded a mix (the one I played at the livemix session with pulse, double A, Entalphy, Entrohpy, Sean etc.)

Get it here: http://home.no.net/skau/skaulivemix_27-01-01.mp3

I'm uploading right now.. It should be finished soon... I've got like 40% left or something.. Of 29357 KB.

Playlist etc. can be found here: http://home.no.net/skau -> click the "livemix" link in the menu :-)

The mix is moved to http://home.no.net/eivskog/skaulivemix_27-01-01.mp3 because of lack of webspace

The link should work within half an hour or something!

The playlist is still located @ http://home.no.net/skau

i usually rehearse a mix(especially if it's a strange one)before recording. Then when I'm recording, my mind is usually thinking "hey, you're recording...don't screw up!!!!"

One of the reasons why I don't record myself much That, and I just found some mix tapes from 3 or 4 years ago that I did....ugh....thank God for fire!

If it's a demo tape I want to record, then yeah, I'll definitely rehearse it before hand. Make sure I find the exact perfect spots to do the mix ins and all that, see what effects sound good, etc. Like Pulse was saying, a lot of the mixes, will have been stuff I worked out over the previous weeks or month or so that sound good together, so then I just try to string them together into a nice tight mix.

If I stuff it up while recording, then I just hit erase on the MD and start over from scratch. I finally managed to get over that, "aaah, I'm recording, I'm gonna mess it up" thing. Just took doing it enough times to get comfortable with it.
