Is this a good choice for what I wanna do here. I just wanna spin my stuff as a hobby in my house and get good. im thinking about getting 2 cdj-100s , djm-300, a case, and all necessary cables. My question to you all is what kinda amp and speaker shall i get (I basically want something that I will be able to enjoy in my home when im practicing, with the ability to crank it up if im in the mood, you know). Please lemme know. thanks.

hrmmm... We may end up getting blown out of the water for being off topic here, so I will post this reply to the cddj.com board as well (be sure to check under the gear section). Hopefully Karl and Brian will take pity on us and let this slide as it may fit into one of the new forum topics. I'm a very big fan of of powered speakers because they generally have stellar sound and are very convenient (if not a bit expensive). At home I use two Yamaha MSP5 powered monitor speakers. These little babies crank out 67 watts each which is pretty damn loud for home use (I've never needed to crank them past halfway open to get a nice "ear shattering" loud output). The really nice thing about them is that you can just plug your mixer output directly into the speakers without having to worry about any other connections. No need for an amplifier because each speaker has separate amps for the woofer and tweeter (which also makes for very clean, sharp sound). The Yamaha speakers are actually quite cheap for the performance they give. Check them out at some online stores, or your local music gear shop to see what I mean.

Two years ago, I did the same thing, well, almost, I thought I'd get an amp and speakers just to use at home, but luckily I ended up getting a bigger system, and am now very glad I did. I got a 500 Watt amp and two 350 Watt (max) speakers, so I can keep them low when at home, and crank them up for parties etc. I did one for 200 people on Friday night, and it was perfect. So yeah, I'd get a systems you can use at home aswell as on the move. Pete

powered speakers rule... either the Alesis M1's are great for power and price considerations. they can be had for around 500 or if you really like sound clarity and just plain loud.. a single mackie SRM450 will pretty much remind you why you love music.. and lucky for us they can be had for 650 at your local guitar center
