Last week I made an order, I purchased some coaxial cables, & coaxial/optical convertor, an optical cable (Toslink) and a Toslink/Miniplug adapter to wire my future DJM800 digitally to my laptop for recordings.

But the problem I'm facing right now is:

When I try to plug in the toslink/miniplug adapter to the toslink cable, it just won't fit hahaha Big Grin They're both from the same manufacturer (SSSNake) & They're actually made for eachother... So I just don't get it...
They have the same shape, same size so they should fit. But they just don't!!!

Anyway,

I can get the adapter on the toslink cable connector, but I can't push the adapter further on it to click itself on it. If I would try to to that anyway, the adapter would just tear apart.

I just hope that someone has some experience with this, so that person could tell me what's wrong OR what I am doing wrong Big Grin

By the way, here are some pics of the cable & the adapter:

PS: PROBABLY it will be a very dumb thing, or just something I overlooked or miss. But I don't have any prior experience with the digital recording stuff... So I just hope someone can help :-)

To my rescue, I did find another cable that would fix my problem. It's just a toslink cable with the miniplug adapter already in it actually. Just a toslink to miniplug cable... So If I can't fix the problem, I'll be forced to buy one like that...

I thought it might have been because of a difference in connector types but apparently there's only 1 type in use. (See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toslink)

Does the adapter have the "D" shaped connection socket? It's hard to tell from that first photo.

No, it's a square connection.
But it shouldn't matter actually because the D-shaped toslink connector fits into it but it won't click.
So the toslink connector just falls out of the adapter when I let it rest on itself.

Pffff... I think I'll just buy a toslink to miniplug cable, one like this:

That's not what you think it is (probably).

You can't actually go toslink->miniplug without some kind of adaptor with circuitry, because one is optical and the other is electrical.

Dude... It's not REALLY a mini jack you know ;-)

It's just the housing of a mini jack, but the optical lightbeem just goes through & into to your optical input.

I just have a Flexi mini jack optical input on my Creative Soundcard. So I need a mini jack adapter on my toslink cables.

But my problem is that the adapter itself doesn't fit...

But it doesn't matter anymore, I'll just order that cable and'll be solved ;-)
