I've done some of my own work... I do everything "onboard" the computer, using software such as ReBirth, SonicFoundry, Vegas... I love remixing because then you get original stuff to work with.
If you want to check out the remix I most recently did, visit my MyPlay site. My email is... go to the main page of the Studio Forum, and look in the top left corner... see where it says "Moderated By"? You'll find my email there. The password is "music". You're looking for Anarchist. The original is just a 1/2 @ssed downmix, and the Creekside Breaks Mix is the one I wrote, using original elements from the DATs. I really really want to get into it. I saw a roland midi keyboard that they have just released which is a keyboard and midi interface in one. It just plugs straight into your mac/pc via a USB cable! cool. There's just so much stuff out there. Samplers, sequencers, grooveboxes, drum machines, workstations!! arrrrgh. I know a lot of it has a load of overlap, but choosing equippment, especially when starting out is a nightmare!
