I've done some of my own work... I do everything "onboard" the computer, using software such as ReBirth, SonicFoundry, Vegas... I love remixing because then you get original stuff to work with.

If you want to check out the remix I most recently did, visit my MyPlay site. My email is... go to the main page of the Studio Forum, and look in the top left corner... see where it says "Moderated By"? You'll find my email there. The password is "music". You're looking for Anarchist.

The original is just a 1/2 @ssed downmix, and the Creekside Breaks Mix is the one I wrote, using original elements from the DATs.

I produce jingles for local station and sometimes i use a PC with editing software. I also use a professional audio board (digital in/out via coaxial and optical). I use braekbeats and samples made with recycle and use voices from diverse bands and singers.

I really really want to get into it. I saw a roland midi keyboard that they have just released which is a keyboard and midi interface in one. It just plugs straight into your mac/pc via a USB cable! cool. There's just so much stuff out there. Samplers, sequencers, grooveboxes, drum machines, workstations!! arrrrgh. I know a lot of it has a load of overlap, but choosing equippment, especially when starting out is a nightmare!

I do a lot of producing these days, mostly breaky trance (nu-skool breaks as planetxusa calls it) and breakbeat remixes of songs with nice melodies (last one I did was Chicane - Aututmn Tactics break mix)

As far as equipment goes I use an Akai mpc2000 and a Roland 307. I think it's more conducive to your "creative outflow" if you can just hit drumpads (on the Akai) or a piano-style keyboard (Korg is great). The real time effects on the Roland 307 are commendable as well. Sequencing is also real simple on these things.

Yeah I'd definitely get the Korg Triton Workstation that thing does just about EVERYTHING and it's sounds are NOT cheesy (unlike the Roland Grooveboxes, which have nice drums but pretty cheesy strings)

Actually to produce original music it doesn't take that much equipment; all you really need is a sampler and a sequencer.

Computer software is great of course but you gotta have a keyboard/drum-pads otherwise the creative juices (for me anyways) just don't flow.

Hi there, I use all Sonic Foundry software on my pc. Just remixed Beat Dominator's "Beats Rock The Bass", and a few local clubs here have been playing it with some nice sucess.

I understand your your frustration with buying studio equipment...there's just so much out there. Then you read the electronics magazines for help, and they're all saying the same thing for EACH item!!!! Aargh!!!

I guess that's why I stuck to my dj ways and put a dj mixer in here instead of some big time producer board....
