this message was posted in another forum but moved over here at the request of DJ Pulse:

Stu, what program are you using to get your mix into an mp3? i was looking around on a few sites yesterday for a "direct-to-mp3" encoder, and the closest thing I found was Xing Tech's MP3Live! Encoder, but that looks like a broadcasting utility and it didn't allow me to save the mp3 to my hard drive..
I know that I can record to wav then convert to mp3, but that takes up a TON of disk space, and it also takes a long time for the conversion as well... the quality of your mix sounds dope, especially for 64k.. thanks

AudioCatalyst has an input-to-mp3 feature, but apparently this is only in the Macintosh version. This does comes in very handy. However, whatever platform you're using, I found AC has one of the best encoders available. Keeps the nice crispy hi-hats intact, even at lower bitrates.

You're right, though... you'd think there would be one for Windows. I guess us Macintosh users get all the perks this time.
