hey aural, one more point that your design made evident to me

When I designed mine, it was made to suit my preferences... I import my data from Excel, and I do it as all artist names and then all track names together (separate lines = separate cells) which basically means (since my desing are 2 boxes for artist and track respectively) that I can input all the data in two copy-paste moves

...having that in mind, and just as an example, your design would never fit my usage (would have to copy paste each artist and track individually)

thats an easy fix. Make it 1 text box with a hard return.

no, no, I know that, and I understand - I was just making a point about people designing things to fit their own needs

For me, personally, the template in .ai is working very well, especially now that I've got my rythm sorted

JP - I was tinkering with your design last night, made it easier to use. I'll send you a copy.

Do you mind sending a copy of it to me as well?

I'm curious to know how you are importing the information from excel into adobe ill.

Pulse, I would be curious to check out your redesign as well. Been using the original one in this thread and really like it.

Thanks all-

hey - RT, quite simply, I have it as such

Column A - artist
Column B - Concat of D+"("+E+")"
Column C - time
Column D - track name
Column E - remix name

Then I copy, for example, 10 cells of selected column - it copies it with returns Wink

Fade, you can email me here jp at thejp dot net

And thanks for the replies Wink

Nice covers. I have been looking/trying to create my own covers, but it allways ends up with a plain 'text' from a excel sheet :/ heh

JP - Your template have some elite features that import data from a excel sheet, or how does it works? Is it possible to get hold of the kit ? Wink

Heyup,

I understand the excel > AI data move... but how did the data get into excel in the first place?

I build my labels (using this template) by copying and pasting from the mp3 for each one and it takes a wee while Smiler

I select all mp3s and add to winamp, then do the Misc->Generate HTML playlist... from the html I select and copy the text to a new excell sheet/tab... then just Data->Data to Columns and validate (in my case - for beatport tracks) via "-" splits...

then I get all rows and can copy/paste anywhere (usually the main sheet where all tracks are)

Sorry for the low quality but it's saved as .jpg with MS Paint.

You misunderstood, that was me mocking using Word as a template application for graphics.
