Hi all,
Following a kind recommendation from Pulse in another post, I have ordered an M-audio uno to allow me to get midi to ableton (pc) from the 800. However, they aren't in stock at present and no one can give me a definite answer as to when I will get one. I have also realised (having read a few of the other posts on the forum) that I want to feed the PC with the digital output from the 800. I have the opportunity to cancel my original order and get something to do both. What would be best USB or Firewire connection? What would you recommend in the up to £150 ($300) range? Something from M Audio, Edirol or another? Thanks in advance, Amalgam. I am considering the M-Audio AUDIOPHILE USB, FAST TRACK PRO or the EDIROL UA-25 - doesn't look as though the UA-25 can take a coaxial input direct from the 800? Anyone have any thoughts regarding its limiter? This message has been edited. Last edited by: DJ Amalgam, |

The limiter on the 25 is pretty smooth. I have one and it's my favorite piece of hardware. There are other, probably more feature-rich products out there, however, and I would recommend firewire over USB.
Pulse is a fan of the M-Audio FW410, which is far more advanced and about the same price I think. It also has digital in. If you've got digital in, and digital out from your mixer, you might as well use it. -r- |

Hi Ryan,
Thanks for the reply - why Firewire over USB? Would the M-Audio FireWire Audiophile be better than the FAST TRACK PRO then? My local supplier has the FW410 at over £400 so this is beyond my budget. Regards, Amalgam |

If you don't need all the bells/whistles of the 410, consider the FastTrack Pro (which you mentioned). It's a great audio device and a reasonable price.

OK, Fast Track Pro it is!
Thanks once again to you both. |
