I have a strange problem after installing the Creative Media Source software that came with the X-Fi Surround 5.1 USB soundcard.

Before I installed the creative software, I was using Wavelab to record output from my DJ mixer and output from a file being played in Wavelab/Media Player.

I can't seem to do this anymore.

I have to select "what you here" to record music being played from my laptop and then select "Line in" to record from my external DJ mixer.

I have tried various settings within the Creative Media Source and its the same - I have to switch between "what you hear" and "line in" from the record sound preferences.

The X-Fi soundcard is selected as the recording and playback device.

Any idea's ???

Many thanks !

Well, for starters, none of the soundcards from Creative Labs are any good. They're okay for home use but as soon as you step into the DJ world (and recording), you'll want to consider something a bit more Pro / Prosumer.

I'm not familiar with the hardware or its drivers but many soundcards only allow one source to be recorded.

I just find their driver configuration and software very difficult to setup and use, especially for any serious application. Even for some of the home theatre configurations it was a hassle to get it working properly.
