My Sony700 just fell apart after 5 years...and I am looking to purchase another set. I am leaning towards getting the Sony's again...but wanted some other input on what else may be better out there.

Any thoughts?

Can't discuss the competitor's gear... but Pioneer makes a nice pair of cans!

yeah, i am still on the never-ending quest to find a pair of good headphones.

my old 7506's are great, but they are not loud enough for big clubs. looking for a second pair right now and looks like i'll be getting HDJ-1000's.

They sound all right, but i don't like the material ear pads are made out of and everyone complains about swivel piece breaking. I guess i will just buy them at GC and get an extended warranty or something... All other DJ headphones i've tried are either WAY too big or uncomfortable.

I'll tell you one thing though, don't waste your money on Ultrasone DJ1Pro. They are most non-practical, ill-fitting headphones i have ever used. Great idea and very poor execution.

My favourite headphones by far are the sennheiser hd 25. (please feel free to edit this pulse if you feel I'm breaking any rules)

So i just went to Guitar Center to get me a pair of HDJ-1000's.
Floor model - Both swivel pieces are cracked.
They bring me a brand new pair from the back - swivel piece cracked!!!
They check 2 more pairs that were returned. Same problem on both of those - swivel piece cracked.

So i picked up a pair of new A&H XD-53's. Will see how these hold up. So far so good. Much louder than my Sony MDR-7506.

The most comfortable headphones are the one's we're not aloud to talk about.

Reference first and third post.

the sound from pioneers ear goggles really did impress me, but i personally found them too heavy and bulky, i tend to play 4-6 hours a night, so i settles on HD25's, nice and light and the sound is phenomenal! plus everything is replaceable

Yeah, look it up on any site that sells gear and allows customer review. Unfortunately the PIO phones have a swivel breakage issue as Solefald mentions above - widespread issue
