Anyone on here record their sets onto a Mac? If so what software do you use?
I am using Audacity which allows me to record but I can't get the files converted to MP3. I am used to using Cool Edit/Adobe Audition on a pc but can't get an equivalent for the Mac and I'm not installing a windows parallel to do so.. Any help much appreciated |

You need the MP3 plugin for Audacity, or use another application to cross-convert the file.

Plug-in sounds good - any idea where to get it?

Actually, I just remembered, I can't get the Lame MP3 plugin to work on my Mac.
Anyone have any suggestions for a better program to use so I can ditch Audacity? |

there's this program called iTunes. Do a search for it. It has mp3 encoding built in! Amazing what they give away for free these days.
As for recording, I love SoundStudio. http://www.freeverse.com/apps/app/?id=5012 Although, if you're on a new Mac and don't want to spend anything or too much, just use GarageBand or QuickTime Pro. Stu |

You can use a freeware app called "Max" to transcode.

I used to record with Sound Studio, and upgraded to Amadeus Pro few months ago.
Both support a bunch of output formats. Also, Sound studio doesn't support 24bits very well so if you can afford it, buy Amadeus, it has a lot a excellent functions for the post-prod of your mixes and allows you to work with full-quality audio files http://www.hairersoft.com/AmadeusPro/AmadeusPro.html |

With regards to Amadeus Pro...
When converting/saving a file into .mp3 format does the user have a choice of selecting the quality? For example, 128/192/256/320kbps? Thanks, Ivan |

Another vote for AmadeurPro. Have been using it since Amadeus II days.
And yes, you have FULL control over how your files are saved. |

After reading through a bumload of opinions, reviews and advise I am finally sold. Amadeus Pro is what I have been seeking.
Thanks for your prompt replies, lads. Cheers! Ivan |

ALWAYS set your quality to be the HIGHEST you can get... but unlike what Grib posted as a screenshot, set your sample-rate to 44.1 instead of 48kHz. Some apps can't play 48kHz encoded MP3s or they will but they'll be totally pitched as the software tries to transfer it down.
