Actually, the quality is "better"; usually warmer. Comparing the quality of CDs to vinyl is a bit like apples and oranges; it might be the same song but there's a world of difference between the two. What you're hearing as a difference in quality is usually because vinyl doesn't naturally have as "sparkly" of highs as CD's do (along with some other things).
What you can do is learn to remove the vinyl artifacts (essing, hiss, rumble, cracks and pops), shape the sound of the song to be more like a CD using an equalizer, etc. When you do that, you can produce CD-quality (sic) tracks out of your vinyl. -r- |

I convert my vinyl two ways.
1st is to just rec.it to a stand alone cd recorder that is hocked up through my mixer. 2nd on my laptop I use a program called LP Recorder it came with a RCA concetor through my USB. That also came with another program called Wave Corrector that removes all the cracks and pops it works very well. It cost around $40.00 and I pick it up at Best Buy. id like to still use audition v3 as it cost a fair bit of dolla. it has all the pop and hiss removal but what i think Ryan hit on was the eq ing but thats hard to get bang on right buy ear as different systems vary seakers etc. what i dont want is when mixing a bought cd to one i ve ripped from vinyl is there to be a clear difference in the coulor of sound.
