I know someone who uses it with a portable CD player in their car, works great so I'd try it!

the downside to most short range radio transmitters is they sound absolutely horrendous. crappy crappy sound quality. fine if you are listening to mp3's with some mates over a few beers but to mix with? no thanks....

i wanted it for practicing... so i dont have to connect any wires.... still not good enough? if its that bad then why do people buy it for an mp3 player? id rather have wires instead of really bad sound...

Answer: because lots of people also listen to 64kbps mp3's, sacrificing sound quality in lieu of hard disk space/download time.

In other words, most people don't care.

Although with this thing I think you'll be okay enough for a practice session - you'll never know until you try.

Jay - yes that'll work, but you're better off buying a shure mic system. In fact they have many designed for exactly what you're thinking of, and a lot, if not all live performances involving guitars now use a wireless guitar system.

Gives the performer room to thrash about without worrying about pulling his cable out. You can plug the receiver right into your portable speakers, but you might have to adjust the input level on your speakers from -10dBV (line level) to +4dBU (mic level) - there's usually a switch on them to do this.
