I spin everything. I hate this snobbish deejays
who only spins deep house but raves sbout the new Snoop Dogg CD.

I have developed a new fresh taste for hip hop and RNB as I have a couple of CDJ1000's.

I can scratch and backspin and do other amazing **** I could NOT do on my CDJ100's.

I have a coupe of 1200's but getting hip hop and RNB on vinyl this side of the woods is virtually impossible.

My first love is house : any good house ... even the commercial hits!!!

Seems like all are into the spinnin scene.

Have you guys tried promoting yourself? 'Cause I've heard stories that it's hard to break into the spinnin scene if the promoting isn't great.

For those who want their break, did y'll know that www.YarisVSYaris.com is calling out ALL DJs (& sneaker designers) to battle it out to have their chance to have their mixes spun at a radio stations? That can leads to all kinds of things. If you're down for some competition, submit your original mixes to the YarisvsYaris and see what happens! Don't need to be livin in the area they're doin it in 'cause if you're a winner, they'll fly you out to Chicago to meet DJ Clark Kent & other celebrities!

What's the biggest gig anyone had on here?

I am in no way a big time DJ. At 35 it is still an elusive dream. I don't have any productions to my name but I have spinned to about a million people listening to the radio a few years ago.

My biggest gig was also my longest gig. About twelve hours in a club to about 200 people.

BUT I play everything at home. Funk, soul, Hip Hop new and old, classical, rock
As long as it's good and has soul i'm down with that!

Trance. I suppose not everyone's cup of tea.

I am the exact opposite.

toni_g, if you haven't had the chance to spin in a while, this would be perfect for you...

But I do have to agree... I LOVE listening to DJs spinning & mixing house & all the different kinds of trance... melodic, psychadelic, deep & so forth.

All the DJs on here... did you guys hear of the YarisVersusYaris.com battle? They're calling out all DJs right now and honestly, for those who are wanting to hit it big, this would be the perfect opportunity to try it 'cause these kinda things don't come along everyday.

Did anyone submit their track yet??

I attend a beauty pageant over the weekend. The main DJ was spinning some commercial house on his CD decks. The female DJ following him hooked up her 1210's and played deephouse.

Everybody went ape ****! Including myself!

Why? Seeing a cute chick behind the decks and she really mixed very well!!!

I now have the dauntning task of teaching my girlfriend how to mix. Somebody was inspired!!!

I'm not into DJ'ing because of the money, it's the music, ever since I was a kid I wanted to be like Vangelis or Jean Michel Jarre and the first time I saw a DJ I knew that was me. My love of electronics and music went hand in hand. If other people like what I'm doing great.
My probelem is that I'm not that confident in my self, lazy and get tired very quickly as I'm very thin/skinny what ever...so all this traveling and 9pm to 6am nonsence would wrek me for the whole year lol.
Sorry I'l stop now....I have a tendency to wax lirycal

Martin, doesn't matter if you're thin or thick, if you're passion is spinnin, do what you gotta do. And another thing, be confident. There's no reason for you to not be confident. Maybe if you enter & win the YarisversusYaris.com battle, you'll feel a lot better about yourself.

Anyone else feel what Martin does?

For the most part, I love dj'ing, though I can't say I love all the songs I have to play every.....single.....weekend.

I'm a 'lil 'ol bar dj, so I play hip-hop, rap, 80's rock, 80's pop, newer alternative, pop, dance...damn near everything.

I bought my 1000's in the hopes of seriously practicing my house music skills (though progressive trance is where my heart lays) and so far, all I've done is play Nelly Furtado 30 times!
