I've seen this posted on another DJ forum but there is a company producing something very similar already ... not new.

It's a nifty idea, I'm sure things will go that way eventually. But they need to be able to develop something that's "slippy"; a glass or even plastic screen isn't slippy enough to scratch with or cue with reliably (your hands will grip onto it unless you have the lightest of feather touches; in which case a fart passing nearby will probably also cause your audio to skip/jump/scratch).

If you think about the feeling that a CDJ or turntable gives you, your hand is on something stationary and all the slippage happens under the object your hand is on; reproducing that with touch screen is difficult. That would be my biggest issue with a device like this, cool as it looks.

Sort of related: A friend of mine went to a software developers conference in Jan/Feb and got the word on something that's going to revolutionise DJ'ing. That's not how it was sold to him (or anyone-else there) but it was the very first thing I thought when I heard the words; iMac Touch. Eeker Cool I was sworn to secrecy, but gearjunkies.com sort-of let the cat out of the bag last week, so...

I certainly don't think it will revolutionise! Or revolutioniZe as ye say across the pond. I think this sort of thing would be more useful for adding effects like a flanger etc.
