lingeriebowl

Organizer will interview me on Monday for a private party in June. I really don't think I will get the gig because I am not a hip-hop DJ but I am keeping my hopes very high.
I am ready to Dj for free if they ask

So they need a hip-hop dj huh? How long is it? Do they need requests or can you just play a set? If they need requests you'll need mad songs. I could give you a list of stuff to go looking for before the gig if you get it. The requests have been the same for a couple months now, you could probably look at Billboard or other spots to see what's going off.

Is this for your business or do you work for somebody? Do you work alone? I ask cuz if this is related to "your" specific business, the name you present at this gig is going to be associated with the type of job you do. Many DJ companies in Tucson are now be labeled as not being "hip hop" enough. They don't have the songs being requested and are playing the wrong mood of the genre. You might want to hire a local DJ to help you, that way they can bring their collection with them. Give us the update on Monday and let us know what happened.

That sounds like a fun gig. But if you are not a hip hop dj don't take it. It's more than just playing "popular" songs. Hip hop djs have a style of mixing, talking on the mic, etc. I would never claim to be a techno/dance dj because hip hop is what I do! (Just my opinion)

Interview went well. They will take one day to select and by tomorrow I will find out if I got the gig. They decided to have 80's theme. Good for me..

Basically is a house party for the players of Lingerie Football league. From 9pm to 3am. I am keeping my fingers cross. If I get the gig, I will get only $150 for the night, but the view is worth the price

Just remember that drool will short out your equipment just as fast as beer.

$150!!! Those cheapskate promoters!!! 80's is gonna rock...but you should still bring some hip hop for back up. Borrow if you have to, but one thing I can guarantee...the fact that they are young women will mean you'll be getting sad faces if they request and you can't put out. haha!!! Good luck, I hope you get it. And good thing it ain't hip hop, for your sake anyway.
