in my old band, I just had one 100 going through my DJM300, and another 100 going through a Kaoss Pad, and a Roland SP202 through the 300 as well. Plus, I just had a portable CD player I ran on the side for tracks. In my Pioneer rig though, I dropped a lot of samples cut in live, and used the K-Pad for efx and some light "scratching", and the sampler for running loops that were sync'd to the tracks. We also had a guitar player, our front man also had a guitar and a keyboard, and our bassist also had a keyboard, and a live drummer who had great jazzy fills but couldn't keep time, hence the tracks. Since I left the band I've just done some light producing, and one of the bands I produced for wants me to join. Now, in addition, I have a Line6 digital guitar amp w/ efx and a bass amp, and I split my signal between them (soon I'll have a crossover to do it properly) so onstage I have everything I need for both the tracks and what I do live. The tracks I program involve a lot of subsonics which makes the bass amp very useful cuz not all the places we play at have decent moniters or even subs, all my crazy samples and stuff I now run through my guitar amp and then put on more effects. Anyway, I love my 100's and can't wait for the new models. It's a pretty cool band, but very diverse in it's musicality. The lead guy's from an industrial/goth background, the guitar player's just a club kid sXe hardcore kid, his lil sis plays bass when she's not grounded, and the drummer's.....awesome. It's hard to describe the sound...but with me added, it's about to get a lot more hip-hop influenced...heh heh. Anyway, surely I'm not the only one doing this.... I'd love to hear about more guys using their gear in non-traditional ways. -Patrick
