Hello, to those of you who don't know me my name is Spy. My DJ name that is. Anyway, you might be thinking to yourself "Why is he so upset?" well, let me tell you why; in recent months i have noticed that the name "SPY" is becoming very popular. Commercial. I see it in clothes, glasses, caps etc. i dont like this. I'm barely trying to get back in to actually working as a DJ and not just doing it as a hobby. Now, i've had my DJ name since about 1995 or 1996. Now people are going to think i have this name because of this company!!! Couldn't they have picked another name like Spry or somethin'?...

maybe i'm over reacting! i'm going to bed now...

i hear what you're saying and it sounds like "wah wah wah"

i didnt realise u had the exclusive use of the word spy? google gets 9,810,000 hits for the word spy. i expect to hear whinging about each and every one of those pages that isnt about you.

fwiw im pretty sure "spy" has been around since the early 90's. i remember using spy motocross goggles in 97 and they'd been around for a while then....

Spy I'm sure that none of the other DJs directly copied your name. Like Sean said, it's popular. But if you're really serious about the name you can copyright it as a DJ name. The likelyhood that the other DJ's have it copyrighted is probably slim. Then you can order the other DJ's to stop using the name.

Now you've done it. I have to reveal my true identity.... I am Spy from the Spy vs. Spy fued. I won't say which one, so I can maintain some anonimity, but know this, I've been suppressing the same sort of anger since way back when Bill Cosby co-opted my moniker for his television show. My fueding partner, other Spy, was and is equally miffed about the entire situation. This is the only issue on which we agree. <insert lit bomb under Spy's soap box here>

I was the elusive (and always best) Grey Spy, but I turned to DJing after the cold (warm-ish) war ended.

As a side note to Rox's post, I'll actually be in Normandy for the 60th anniversary D-Day celebrations this year. I'll be driving a 1944 American Jeep with a couple people out to take part in the festivities (4-speed, double clutching, no power steering, no power brakes, no doors, hand-actuated winshield wipers, bench seats that will be VERY tough to sit on for the 8 hour + drive). Over here this is the biggest war memorial day - November 11th over there pales in comparison. I've been to Normandy already, last year in October. It was an emotional time for me, and I have a feeling this time will be no different.

Today I visited the Canadian memorial at Vimy Ridge here in France (battle was in April of 1917). It was incredible to see - nobody here forgets anything that happened in either of the wars, and the sites are all immaculately kept. So much so that there are signs everywhere warning not to go outside the fenced areas, because there are still unexploded mines. The crater holes remain, although now they're covered in grass, where once blood, water and human body parts mixed to form a rat-infested muck.

My thanks and thoughts go out to all the soldiers who have died in the line of duty. Nothing I can ever do or say will repay the sacrifice you have all made for freedom, but I bow my head in thanks.
