Well I just joined the forum and wanted to say hi and tell you all a bit about myself. My name is Mark AKA "DJ Kryptonite". I'm big into music and custom cars. I'm the VP of a Custom Car & Truck club called Kiddie Rydes (est. 1997, and have built several custom vehicles over the years. I currently own a 2005 Pathfinder that I am hand building a urothane bodykit for. It sits on custom machined 22"s and I did some TV screens, Suede headliner, Audio system, etc.
As for Djing, I started spinning in 1995 at school dances and got to DJ my first club in 1998. I also got my "DJ Kryptonite" name the same year, but that's another story. I started off with an old no name mixer that actually took a 9volt battery to power and two old technic 1200s. I eventual added a couple home CD players to the setup...lol.
My first real system was a Pioneer DJM500 with two CDJ500s and a newer set of Technic SL1200 MKIIs. Over time I swaped the CDJ500s for CDJ700s, and then CDJ1000s, and the CDJ1000 MKIIs. I also upgraded from the DJM500 to a DJM600. A couple years ago I strayed from Pioneer and sold my setup to buy the Denon DNS3500s and the 1500 mixer. About a year later a sold that setup and took a break from DJing because of a promotion at work that required me to travel 80% of the year. I did buy a Vestax VCI100 midi controller and Virtual Dj so I would have something to play with on the road, but I missed a full rig. Also, don't get me wrong, I liked the VCI and the Denon equipment, but I just couldn't get comfortable with it after being so used to the CDJ/DJM design which I love.
I fullfilled my travel requirements and now will be able to start back DJing again. I didn't realize how much I would miss playing out every weekend, but I do. I know there are some great products out there, but I'm not going to be happy unless I buy Pioneer. I am seriously considering moving into the DJ/VJ realm. I've been to the DJ Expo the last few years, and have been more and more impressed with Pioneer each year. I only get to go for a day because of work but atleast I can check out all the new products and what not.
Now comes trying to decide what to get. I believe I am going to get two DVJ1000s, a DJM800, and VSW1 or Edirol V4. I also plan on using Virtual DJ with the DJM800 midi control as well. I know I would love to get the SVM1000 but can't bring myself to spend that much right now as I don't even have any gigs booked yet. I'm basically going to buy a new setup and jump back in with both feet and hope I don't sink....lol.
Well, somehow this is turned into a novel. Sorry about that... I do appreciate any advise on getting back out there and transitioning from DJ to DVDJ. Glad to be part of the forum and maybe I will get to meet some of you at the Expo...

Mark
