Completely un-dj related, but I know there's some home-theatre gurus out there, so...
I'm in the (very slow) process of assembling a HTPC. I've got a good portion of the parts together with more coming very soon. I'm going to be sticking LG's combo blu-ray/HD dvd drive in the machine (sexy), and of course I want to be able to view those newfangled movies in all their HD glory. That said, I want to be able to output things at 1080p (yes, I know my TV must support it as well). I have an n-vidia GeForce 7950GTX that I'm going to be sticking in the HTPC which has 2x DVI outputs on it. I know that HDMI is approximately equal to DVI (and I know that DVI doesn't output sound), and with a simple adaptor one can be the other. What I'm NOT sure of is whether or not DVI-to-HDMI will do full 1080p. I know it will do 1080i, but let's face it - 1080i sucks compared to 1080p. So here's the question: Can a single-link DVI-to-HDMI cable do 1080p? Or do I need dual-link? Or is it out of the question all together, and I'm stuck at 1080i no matter what? -r- |

C'mon Ryan, we all know 1080 is the vertical resolution of 1080. Any DVI output capable of 1080 veritcal can convert to HDMI for 1080.
