Hey everyone, I'm new to Djing and was wondering what the best way to get into it was... I think I've aleady decided on what gear to buy... I'm gonna self teach myself and probably take some lessons but what would everyone else recommend for a new DJ... Also how does everyone keep up with their music, learn bout the new **** coming out... It seems like I'm always finding out about new artist and new songs like a month or two after they come out... Any suggestions... Thanks
Payce

get yourself some djaying literature, its a great place to start with tons of info, Books like "How to Djay properly" [Sorry pulse and djjay, i know i'm name name dropping on a pioneer forum, i'm new too]

Screw the dj courses its a waste of time, plus djaying is about having your own style and flair why pay good money so that someone teaches you how to djay their way, rather spend it on LEGAL music, and don't pirate!

Unfortunately djays aren't nice to one another and don't like helping eachother out, so you have to find your own resources, just hit the net for tons of info, and make friends with "friendly djays"

why do you want the newest songs? great djays play phat beats they love and they make the punters fall in love with their music, radio sucks, it always will and the only songs you need to play off radio are the ones you as a djay will already know to be "radio compliant" or just listen to your little sisters cd-collection, hahahaha

learn to mix on everything, bad hi-fi's, mp3 players, cd-players, dvj's, laptops, don't listen to what other people say and do stuff yourway, learn about sound and equipment, what goes where? how to EQ? you'd be surprised how many djays still plug in cd players into "phono inputs" and ride their mixers way into the red,

Learn to mix harmonically, and don't limit yourself to a vinyl ideology, and always always have fun,
