Ok well sadly someone spilled 1/2 a beer on one of my CDJ 800MK1's. The girl who spilled the drink and her boyfriend said they would pay for repairs. At the time of the spill the CDJ wasn't functioning at all. However, the now that it has dried out, it's in a reasonable working condition now. That being said, it makes much more noise when operating now and has a slower response time to setting cues, changing tracks, and fast-forwarding or rewinding.

I'm going to get the CDJ to a repair shop and get it taken apart, get the sticky beer cleaned out and any malfunctioning parts replaced. Will this fix the problem? How have people dealt with spilled drinks before?

Thanks!

Yeah, an authorized repair shop will be able to fix the issue. Aside from the laser probably being coated in beer-juice, the biggest issue you'll have is the platter. But that's a simple cleaning problem.

Get it in. It'll get fixed up like new.

Hey bro, I had a glass of punch spilt on one of my MK2. It is extremely advisable to cease using it at all and take it in to be repaired asap.

Even though mine was functioning normally the next day, I found that it deteriorated with use.

Don't put it in the hot water cupboard if it was alcohol because all the water will evaporate and leave a sticky sugar residue in the circuitry.

Because I left mine so long and continued using it- it ended up costing me NZ$500 to be repaired and the guy said it was as close to being completely f**Ked and non-repairable as you could get.

So take it in!

Peace

That'll happen anyway, trust me.

Get it in, as everyone says.
