Ok so here is the issue.
When you have a tune on a CDJ which starts right at the beginning of a track, you have to constantly back peddle to keep it at the right cue point. Here is a video I took to show this Youtube video The solution here, I think is to setup a special case for tunes at the beginning of the CD. This would be to add a five or 10 second buffer, this buffer would be negative so that when playing a cd normally, it starts at 0 (as it should) but provides you with the option to go into negative numbers. |

Nobody else is having this issue?

I understand what the problem is but don't really see a need to go "negative". What's the need for going beyond the initial "beat" or start of that track?

Well in my case, I like to be able to sync up the beats by moving backwards and forwards on the beat I intend to start with. So what happens is I constantly have to reposition on the platter. This is _only_ a problem with tracks that have the beat start right away, and right at the front of the disk.
Additionally this same problem can be seen in other tracks, having the negative numbers would mean that the CDJ doesn't try and switch tracks every time you hit the beat. (which is also annoying, but much less of a problem) |

A workaround is to simply insert some silence at the beginning of problem tracks before you burn them.

...but if it's a commercial CD which has it...
Faber, do some of the tracks actually have time "before" that point? Could it be simply that your CDJ has its autocue sensitivity too high? Pioneer National Trainer // Product Specialist |

No, the point is at the beginning of the track, second zero on the track. Additionally I'm not running auto cue and the sensitivity is the set to the default.
The solution is to cue then use the cue button to play the track, but as this goes against my general mixing style it's quiet annoying. Also, Ryan J - yes, I could insert silence at the beginning of the track, but as Pulse pointed out this will not work for commercially pressed CD's. Again, if it's possible to do within a firmware update, the ideal solution I see is to automatically allow negative time on the track when dragging the track backwards with the platter. This probably should work on ALL tracks and not just the beginning one, as I've pointed out, it's also annoying when the track changes to the last track played while dragging the platter back. |

It may be annoying but for tracks outside the 1st track, this is desirable, especially for scratch jocks who put track markers for their battle discs - making it easy to jump from track to track (sound to sound). In those cases you wouldn't want to have that feature (although I'm sure that your reply would be something to the effect of "have it so you can turn it on and off"
It's an interesting concept but I can't honestly say there would be much desire for it as you're the first to propose the idea. Would anyone else reading this find much use / interest in the ability to create "negative time" on track one of a CD? The primary intention of this would be for scrubbing the first beat of a track at the start of a CD where the beat is right at the very start and there is no lead-in time remaining prior to said beat to allow for a "scrub and throw" (vinyl style) manipulation. I'd like to see it, yeah.
Besides the fact that I think faber has found a bit of an error. I don't think the cue point should "move" like that at the beginning. Reminds me of a problem the other guys had with any point on the CD moving. -r- |

I'd like that too. It would more closely mirror the situation on vinyl where you always have a silent lead-in that can be used for scratching the very start of a track.

Pulse,
Maybe do a poll to see how many people want this feature? I suspect that it will be quiet a few. |

Hi Guys,
Just wondering if anything ever happened with this posting? I've noticed that no new firmware has been released, yet the video on youtube has already seen about 34k hits and multiple comments. I think many people are experiencing this annoying issue including my self, and would love to see some resolution if possible. |
