I will be purchasing new CD players in the near future and could use some help from someone that has used a CDJ-1000MKII.

I was browsing the specs of the MKII on the Pioneer site and read that the MKII has 0.02 pitch accuracy on both the +/- 6% and 10% settings. Later, I printed out the owners manual and read that 0.02 pitch accuracy is only available on the 6% setting. Could someone that has actually used the MKII either confirm or deny the 0.02 pitch accuracy at 10%?

Considering 0.02 is available up to 6% on both models, I have obviously chosen Pioneer over [bleep]s 0.02 at 4% only (dont really feel like waiting indefinitely for an update on the pitch accuracy of the [bleep]. . .and thats IF one is ever released). So, Ive narrowed things down to either the CDJ-1000 or the CDJ-1000MKII. Since pitch accuracy is one of my top concerns, what is the real advantage of the MKII over the original CDJ-1000 if they both have 0.02 accuracy only available at 6%?

Still reading? Excellent. . .heres another Q. I was reading in the manuals about the Wave Display feature. If I read this correctly, that may be one of the sweetest features Ive ever heard of.

My understanding is. . .as you are playing a track on a 1000, you choose the Wave setting and Voila!, you receive a visual representation of the track in the display much like what you have in Traktor or SoundForge and other recording programs. By looking at the display, you can watch as a breakdown approaches, and/or when a breakdown will end. This is a lot like reading the light and dark (for lack of a better term) grooves on vinyl.

Am I correct with this, and how long does it take for the Wave Display to load? Is it available shortly after the track is loaded, or does the entire track have to be played once and then have the wave data stored on the MMC card? Im intrigued.

If you actually read all this, congratulations! Youre a trooper. . .and thanks in advance for the help.

I confirm the 0.02 pitch accuracy at 6%, anything above the accuracy will drop.

MK2 has some all around feauturs that the MK1 dont have, sound quality is on top of the list.

The wave display is not as Detailed as youve seen in soundforge etc, but it does got the job dun, and it loads rather quickly.

All and All if you have the cash, get the MK2. infact get 2 of dem

Here is a good Demo Vid, check it out (note this demo is of the MK1's)

The complaints of the 1000, were taken care of in the MK2. I find the wave disply very helpful, and don't notice any lagging in load-in. The card feature of both is amazing, and yet not promoted by DJs as much as I would expect. You can store 1000's of Cue and loops on an SD card and take it from player to player if needed. Huge plus to either player, but if you read up you'll find that the MK2 has a lot more storage points.

The feel of the platter is also different from 1000 to MK2. If you read through the forums, you'll find some very helpful advice from real DJs who are out there with both models.

Good luck and let us know which one you get!

Thanks for the info guys. I think it's safe to say that I will be the proud new owner of not 1, but 2 MKII's in the following weeks.

Taken from www.pioneerprodj.com in the features section of the CDJ1000-MKII:
Tempo Control
A new 100mm linear high precision slider connected to a 0.02% (at +/- 6% and +/- 10%) adjustment indication on the display panel. Gives the DJs that total control and ensures that the tempo adjustment is easy and accurate.

A touch misleading. . .had to go and get my hopes up.

Before it's misleading, it has to be proven wrong. Karl what's your take?

#1 reason to get a MK2 over anything else...

SOUND QUALITY

It's perfect. Better than anything else so far.

#2 reason

Feels better than a turntable. It's not meant to simulate it, it's meant to disimilate it. It takes an analog clunky aparatus, and makes it a streamlined, robotic machine. This coming from a vinyl junkie. (Although Serato looks pretty neat these days.)

#3 reason

It's like DJing with a Porsche in each hand. There is a certain underground old school look and feel to vinyl, there is a certain prestige and self respect that comes from using digital.

#4 reason

Just being able to look at them at your house or apartment, and watch all that technology do what it does so flawlessly. The reaction when clueless people see them and touch them is priceless. Even the idiots can touch them without fear of wrecking them.

#5 reason

To be as cool as me..

.02 is only for 6%. i too wish it was for 10% but oh well. as for the wav display, it loads as the song is playing. loads much faster then it is playing so youll always be ahead.

The wav display is really helpful for electronic music but not all that great for hip hop because of the complex beats.
