Yes, they should be recognized. MK3 cues will not load in a MK2.

Are you using an MMC card?

I think that's the problem - from what I recall, the MK3 only supports SD cards, they dropped MMC support.

Yep! You can even use the player's card copy feature to clone your MMC card over to an SD card.

i noticed i had a 32mb sd card with my dvjx1's so i have tried to use one of those in the cdjs.

i put it in and formated it fine, i save some cue points which saved ok in my mk 2's. I then took the sd cards with me dj'ing to 2 setperate clubs.. the first club had mk 3s and the cue points were not recognised at all and the second club had the same as my home (mk 2) and they didnt work in that either,, im very confused now.. could it be that they are 32mb and not 16mb??? surley if that was the prob they would not work in my machine ?? i just dont want to buy another sd card for no reason.

any help would be good as its annoying that my data cant come out with me dj'ing....

thanks

The size doesn't matter - 16, 32, 256, 1GB... they all max out at using 16MB of capacity to store the cuepoint, hotcue and waveform data.

The players are supposed to be backwards compatible - the MK3 will read MK2 and MK1 cards (SD only), the MK2 will read MK1 cards (MMC and SD). The DVJX1 is supposed to be able to read MK2 and MK1 cards but a DVJ-1000 should read MK3/2/1 cards.

A CDJ will not read DVJ cards.

im very confused now... the 32 mb sd card that i got with my dvj x1's formated fine in the cdj mk 2. i saved some cue points on it and they saved fine.. when i put them in my cdj mk the read fine but any others that i have tried and it does not... could this be because the unit is from new zealand, i cant see how it can be really.

Shouldn't matter what country the unit is from, they all use the same read/write instructions. It could very well be the firmware is outdated in some units and thus the card isn't being read / written to properly?

You could give it a shot but I don't know if they'd be able to assist you any further than we could here.

How do you check your firmware on CDJ1000's?

Pretty sure it's not in the menu, and the links to firmware updates are broken on Pioneer's website.

dunno if its a good idea to put your mk3 cards into a mk2... i think it will wipe all your cue points, or it did to my mates anyway... but, i would like to make a master folder on my computer (via a card reader)of all my cue points. then periodicaly update them as i save new cue points onto my cards. then wen i have an updated cue point folder, format my cards, then copy my updated cue point folder on to each of the cards, so that when i play it doesnt matter which side i start on, i'l kno i will definatly have all my cue points. but the problem that i have found is that the cdj1000mk3 saves the cue points in a list like "pioneer001... pioneer002.... etc etc" and a index file. is there any way around havin to go thru and rename every file and edit the index file....???

does that make sense??? hehe.. wat i mean is that on both the cards the cue points are named the same, even tho they are diffrent cue points, so if jus cut n paste, it will jus over write them or not copy them at all....

thats a bit confusing to be honest, sorry. im playin out tommorow and theyve got a MK2 and a MK3. i was told MK2s wont read the cue points saved from a MK3 anyway. im gettin there before they actually open so i'll have time to make new ones and as its only one MK2 i'll only have to do 1 set of new cue points. but will i be able to use the SD card which i used in an MK3 in an MK2. if that makes sense?
