Hello,

Hope everybody is well, I have a bit of a query I was hoping somebody could help me with. (Apologies that my first post is a problem)

I have a pair of 800Mk2's that I'm very happy with, problem is I played in a club at the weekend on a pair of 1000mk3's. It was the first time I had used mk3's and was really surprised at the differences between the sensitivity of the jog wheels.

With my 800mk2's, moving the jogwheel slightly will have an almost immediate effect in a similar way to touching a record deck. Playing on the Mk3's, the jogwheel was simply a lot less sensitive and less stiff if that makes sense. The differences were so great I had to perform a two hour set using the pitch controls alone, luckily I seemed to get away with it but my question is this..

Is there a way of setting the mk3's up so that the jogwheel on the 1000mk3 will perform in a similar way to the 800mk2? I noticed there is a weight setting on the mk3,I set it to 'heavy' but this seemed to have little effect.

Or could it be that the decks may have been used too often, can this have any effect on the feel of the jogwheel?
Or is it just the fact that the decks simply handle differently?

Any help would be really appreciated (sorry for the long post)

Thanks in advance,

Best,

Danny

You'll find that the CDJ1000MK3 jog-adjust setting closest to the feel of the CDJ800MK2 is more toward the "light" setting.

As for the pitch bend response, they are slightly different but not so much that you shouldn't have been able to pick it up within 3 or 4 mixes. Maybe they have the old firmware on the players which was a bit funny, the new version fixes the quirks.

Thanks for the reply,

I don't want to come across like a workman blaming his tools, I was wondering whether somebody had experienced similar differences.

Thanks for the tip on the jogwheel setting. I actually had it set to heavy thinking that it would make the jogwheel stiffer and more sensitive.

It felt as though I was turning and turning the jogwheel with very little effect
I'll try it with the light setting next time.

Best,

Danny

Hi mate, one of my units at home is a little dodgy.
When i rotate the platter nothing happens.. think it may be a sensor not picking up that the platter is moving, it could be that your experiencing?!

That doesn't sound like what he said - but you should call technical support.

Thanks for the reply Ant,

I have a feeling it was more do to do with the jogwheel resistance function on the MK3's than anything else.

Cheers,

Dan
