Hi guys - new to this forum so please bear with me

After a few years i am finally starting to get a chance to play out and about in clubs and bars. Use Numark Axis 9's at home but obviously sooner or later when i play out i am going to be using cdj1000's. As such i am quite worried that when i first use them i will be all over the place because as we all know cd decks can be very different. Therefore it would make sense to purchase my own set of pioneers- problem being i cant afford £1500 at this moment in time ( credit crunch and all that) Smiler
My question is this - what would be the reccomended cheaper pioneer model to buy that would prepare me to use the cdj 1000's - for example are the 100 200 400's very similar bar all the extra features and outputs etc.

I think you will find that pioneer has made the layout of each of there CDJ's very consistenly to each other.
Most pro CD players will be layed out about the same, as each company will try to copy each other.

Well, as with any CD player I think that you'll be alright once you spend about 20 minutes getting used to it. If you're a decent mixer to begin with, the equipment won't cause you too many problems for too long.

However, all of that said, the 800's are good "cheaper" alternatives to the 1000's.

Why not go to a shop that sells CDJ1000's and have a play about. Failing that you could be a bit cheeky by buying one and then taking it back a few days later for a refund once you've had a play around on it - take advantage of the no quivle returns polivy n'all that.

I suggest going out & buying a pair of CDJ 400's. I've always used the 1000's until one night recently when playing in a club in Swindon where they had a new set of 400's. There's little difference in the actual feel & features of these decks, they are a bit smaller than 1000's but do the job fine. Well worth the £450 price tag!!

Good luck

If your into having a controller and player, get the 400s. The layout is the same as the 1000s and the added features are awesome...
