Hello there, bit help neeeded if possible.
My Pioneer CDJ800 Mk1 has been a little funny lately with not reading discs and when it has been reading discs its been playing back them a bit crackley. Im not sure if its different Cd's as i bought a cheap brand of Cd's compared to the Sony ones i was using. Sometimes its trying to read the Cd's and just spitting them back out as there was no luck reading them, However they work on my Laptop no problem at all? Also sometimes it takes a long time to read the Cd and just auto starts by itself even though I have AutoCue on, and i cant press the Cue button as the light aint on. I noticed on the bottom of the CDJ it was Manufactured in October 2005, so it isnt even 3 years old. Also i was browsing through a few topic's on here and i noticed a few people had recommended a servicing. How often should you get your CDJ serviced and any rough idea's to how much it may cost and where i can get it done? Anyone with any help will be greatly appreciated!! Thanks. |

Here's a few very common suggestions from the forum:
1) Use good quality blanks. Search the forums here for what people prefer. I like anything "unbranded", aka with no label on them and just silver. 2) AND POSSIBLY MOST IMPORTANTLY: Burn your CD's at a low speed. I never went above 8x - you can wait 10 minutes for your CD to be done. This seems to fix 90% of people's problems. 3) DO NOT CLEAN YOUR CDJ with a common CD lens cleaner. You'll scratch the snot out of the lens. If you think it needs cleaning (which it might) then take it to an authorized Pio fixer - links above each and every page. Servicing doesn't need to be done regularly unless you're using your CDJ's all the time (has been my experience). But if they're 3 years old, they might need it. The local shop will be able to tell you how much it will be. 4) If you're using MP3's rather than audio CD's, make sure your MP3's are CBR, not VBR. It take significantly more processing power to be able to decode VBR MP3's and so sound quality can suffer as a result. Try that for starters -r- |

Thanks for that information, I'll try burning my discs slow rather then fastest on my laptop and see if that changes anything.
Im not sure where my local shop would be, I know of an electronics shop in town who may be able to do it but not 100% sure. |

I'd take it to an authorized dealer. You can find out where they are by clicking the links on top of this, and every, page.

Cairnsy - I'm not sure what part of:
... you didn't understand, or perhaps you simply didn't read the sticky thread at the top of the forum: PLEASE READ THIS TOPIC BEFORE POSTING! ... which says:
Yes, I'm using you as an example as there are too many people who don't read and think this is a product support forum. Pioneer National Trainer // Product Specialist |
