I believe they said no because there may be the possibility of people having private conversations about non-Pio gear. This way it's all moderated.

That is exactly the reason. Being that this is a corporate web site/forum, everything must be moderated for the obvious.

in other words, Pioneer is chickenshiit. Can't it be set up so users can send and receieve messages after, say 20 posts on the forum to keep people somewhat "loyal"?

Chicken****?

I don't believe Pioneer is really being that.

It would be too easy for a competitor, hostile ex-forum member or even a current forum member who gets pissed of at a moderator start sending anti-Pioneer messages to everyone by private messaging, or for that matter, individual member bashing. If you notice, this board has to hide the displayed email addresses just for those reasons.

It's hard enough to moderate the board alone. without the additional private messaging. PM's are best left to ICQ, MSN and Yahoo. If anything needs to be asked or mentioned, it should be for all the public to see and hear.

As far as the 20+ "loyal posters" example is concerned, I don't believe it's possible to do with this board. Plus, there have been several former members that had more than the would be required posts that turned out to be bad eggs.

The bottom line is... <sigh>... There are rules to every game. If you don't like the rules, play another game!

Toddy

Once again, the argument you expound quasi-relies on the tired old saying, "One bad apple spoils the whole bunch..", before even one bad apple is found.

This can't be the inherent, underlying philosophy of a company that pushed the technological boundaries of CD manipulation, among the numerous other achievements. There has got to be a more plausible reason, hell, I'd accept "it would impact the financial resources already being spent providing this forum," or "it is a royal pain in rump to maintain and it taxes the performance of this free service."

To argue that adults shouldn't have an avenue to discuss legitimate issues because some jagoff might spew some crap is to throw out the baby with the bath water.

I hope and suspect that is not your intention but it is what it is.

We've had plenty of bad apples over the years.

Pioneer doesn't want to deal with the hassle. That's fine, it's their board. How about let's all just be happy they decided to put up this discussion board as a free service.

If the service is not available for us, then why even show it on the site as an option?

It's disabled, but apparently disabling it doesn't remove it from view.

The reason stated is mentionned above. This is Pioneer Pro DJ's site that THEY pay for. If you want someone to contact you, post your email address.

I just realized this feature was missing and I wanted to contact somebody I was interested in working with.
This is a form of censorship that is unacceptable; no other forum I chose to participate in disables this feature.
Pioneer should take a good long hard look at this and realize some of the people participating in these forums aren't just the average DJ.
This Bites and unfortunaltley has me reconsidering in participating at all.

Why can't i steal someones car, that's discrimination!!! Come on man, get over it. . . .seriously, there are ways to contact others beyond private messages.

I agree!

Now the option is viewable it suggest that r I don't have right to send private message r not logged in r the user hasn't left his contact adress.

In other fora always it is a always one of this reasons

maybe Pioneer will create a special VIP message board for the elite users and call it the Behind The Velvet Rope. I'm sure they would hate for you to reconsider participating

Most other forums allow one to block troblesome PMers, as for non-Pioneer chatter, I believe that is just paranoid and shows Pioneer are not very assured of their place in the top 5 of the Pro Djing choices around these days. Personally I think they are the only choice for CDJs. Mixers and turntables have other contenders, however in terms of CD playback Pioneer invented it and continue to do so.

Paranoia invites maliciousness. It's more of the with us or against us polarization we are all becoming too familiar with. Can't we keep this alarmist attitude out of the creative realm. We're all trying to make music here!

Also shutting down/deleting threads and info in them just because they report an issue is unfair as all consumers have aright to be heard if they are polite in their approach.

I know this is a Pioneer owned forum, however free speech should be encouraged as I believe most people are satisfied with their Pioneer choices.

I see what your saying, and in some instances I agree with you. BUT the fact remains that Pioneer holds the site through ownership, and can make determinations concerning various posts and reports.

You may report with hoonesty and relivance about an issue that you feel the market needs to address; but often times the actual posts about problems can be either slanted or biased against Pioneer for no other reason than that of malice. Surfice to say that ultimately it's house rules and taking the info and knowledge here away with you is an awesome feature of having the site.

Now everyone be quiet and go back to work before I get ....
