First off - the photo must be online somewhere, be it in a gallery or just a file, or hosted at one of those image hosting websites, NOT ON YOUR HARDDRIVE!

When posting photos, the end of the URL (web address) must be .jpg .gif .png - nothing else! For example:
Code:
[image]http://www.thedomain.net/thefolder/theimage.jpg[/image]

If you are linking to a photo sharing site, they don't always allow a direct link to the imate itself, so you have to link the URL, not the photo. Do that like this:
Code:
 some text to link
or
some text to link

Hey,Pulse, doesn't one have to get assurances from the website it's being linked from that it will be up for a considerable amount of time so we can actually view that picture?

No, for example, some of my old posts which had pictures you may find no longer have the pictures. I figured the posts were so old that nobody would be viewing them any more, so I tanked the photos from the server.

If you're linking photos, take that into consideration.

If you're linking photos which are not yours, please be sure you have permission from the photo owner before you link them.

Only if the FTP site supports web access. Some FTP sites only allow port 21 traffic, the web uses port 80.

So, what, I'm supposed to pay for my website and host your pictures for free? Geez, go and spend $5/mo and get a freakin' web space!

Google search free photo hosting trend. HP has it and some others, they allow you to upload a picture and then you can right click on it ( when it's hosted ), highlight and copy the address ( http://trendcoolpic43/78.jpg ) and when you go to post here you put that address in the image window on your post.

the size is really smaller ( 46 X 52 ? ) so this is how big it looks.

in the slide show it's a Mcro pres. so it won't give property. What I did was to hit Image Overview, right click on that picture, highlight the WHOLE address and then right click COPY.

When i posted it I hit the image bar in the lower right corner of the reply, when the image window opens, you delete the http that is in the window and then paste the picture address into the image window and hit ok..

If you want it as your Avatar, you do the samething, EXCEPT you paste it into the signature Avatar box on your preferences page ( it says 80 x 80 pix are best for view )...

Trend, that site's kinda useless - you can't directly link to the images, they get embedded by their flash viewer.
