This is mostly for the “newbies’ but perhaps a reminder for our old school is in order. Seems new members have either not read the rules or do not understand why we do not allow certain things to be posted. As the rules imply...."this forum is NOT for service or technical inquiries”. Reason for this, as demonstrated countless times over the years, is that members (with good intentions) post tips on things that actually damage the units…not help them! HERE is a good example where somebody asked for advice and was given misinformation. None of us here; Pioneer moderators; Pioneer administrators or members on this forum are qualified engineers or technicians to be able to give you proper guidance to get a unit fixed . So rather than create a bigger problem we simply ask you call the service # 800-872-4159 (email also found on this website) where they can give you proper guidance. Are we hiding anything??? NO! There is nothing sinister we are trying to cover up. We have many times over the years proven that when there is a problem we come out and acknowledge it; address it; figured out a way to correct it; announced it and rectify it. Being DJs ourselves we know that your gear is the most important thing to be able to express your art form and in many cases earn a living. So we take that responsibility seriously. We have nothing to hide. We are proud to have the best product in the world manufactured with the highest standards in the industry. When the best DJs/Producers/Remixers around the world (without our solicitation or sponsorship) ask for Pioneer on their riders EXCLUSIVELY……. should say a lot.

We’ve sold hundreds of thousands of players over the years and many of you (including myself) benefit from the high quality and STILL have gear such as the 500g’s still in operation. Pioneer IS quality folks. We feel we would do more harm than good to be sweeping problems under a rug. Are there units out there sometimes that go down and fail? Of course ! It's an electronic product for goodness sake and nothing lasts forever! However we do pride ourselves in having products that have the least defective rate in the world. So if you have a problem with your unit, whether it’s because you spilled your drink on it; put it in an unauthorized/unprotected case or simply because it mysteriously stopped playing…..then call service. They will take care of you.

The other reason we are strict about this issue is that in the last year due to Pioneer’s rise in popularity and record sales, we have noticed an influx of new members coming on talking about mysterious problems with their Pioneer units. Strangely though, when they are contacted they cannot provide ser# or even the unit to be looked at...they disappear or they suddenly don't have a problem. This leads us to suspect that they are people with vested interest to defame the Pioneer product. We do not tolerate this kind of counter marketing warfare. There maybe occasions that we make a mistake and over zealously ban someone that is an honest Pioneer fan with a problem. We try not to do this, however based on the knowledge we have, their history; dialogue; and their ISP addresses…..we can only suspect the worse and we prefer to take precautions and be safe rather than sorry. If you are one of these people that feels you have been wrongly banned, you can email me and we can review your account and history again. Of the 800,000 page visits a week and 4,000 some odd members we have had there are only a couple dozen or so people that we have had to ban. Some which we have already let come back to the Pioneer team.

The final reason your post might get deleted or edited is talking about products, websites, events other than Pioneer. We consider this advertising/promoting and strictly forbid this. There are plenty of newsgroups out there where you can do that. If you have a link you wish to share with the forum that you feel is non-competing and genuinely will add some value to this site, you can email us for approval. We are all open minded here, however remember: this is a “Church of Pioneer”, all are welcome, however it is not appropriate to come in here preaching other doctrine. Here we talk Pioneer.

Be well and be blessed

Karl
