Hey all, I'm new here,
just wanted to ask about adjusting the equalizers in DJS I heard that I need to lower (the Bass) in Deck A and lower (the High eq) in Deck B if we are assuming that Deck A is playing and we're fading to Deck B Any help would be appreciated This message has been edited. Last edited by: W!SS, |

It depends on what you are trying to do?

I'm doing a mix, so I don't want the tunes that I mix sounds funny, too loud, just need to adjust the equalizers, so the sound might be good when the crossfader is in the middle.

What are you using it with? Also it really does matter as to what the mix is before you need to tweak the H/L for the fade...
Give us a better example like the 2 tracks and what controller if any you are using; also remember if it's going back through a mixer then your tweaking on the mixer in external mode. Pioneer National Trainer & Product Specialist |

thanks for the replies.
90% of my mixes are Trance & progressive, if u want me to give you examples of tracks, I'll choose 2 tracks that both have hard bass in it. eg: Sander Van Doorn - The Bass (Wardt Remix) Dariush and DJ Da ft. Tina - Good Vibration (Dj Remy & Roland Rmx) these 2 tracks will sound very annoying if the equalizer isn't set right. I'm not using any external mixer nor external kit. Just DJS... If u need to know about my sound Cards, I have 2 : Sound Blaster Live 5.1 Realtek (Built in) |

And you've tried to adjust the set-up in your mix before you fade over, what was the result there?
If your playing Bass on deck 1 and then cue up Godd Vibration on 2 with all your needed adjustments it should sound fine when you mix it through; yes??? Pioneer National Trainer & Product Specialist |

Here's how I do it:
On trance/general electronic mixes, I kill the bass on the track that is coming in. ALSO, depending on the makeup of the track (is there more midrange? more high?) I'll kill one of the mid and high (sometimes both) on the track coming in; 95% of the time it's just the mid, so the bass and mid are killed (or at least down if not killed). NOTHING CHANGES on the track that is currently playing (for now). Start the mix. I don't use the crossfader but I use individual channels (although the effect is the same); I slowly bring up the channel coming in (or move the fader to the center) and now I've got both channels at 100% (whatever that is for you). Now I start to adjust the EQ. I usually start with the midrange, and slowly as I bring the mid up on the channel coming in I reduce the mid on the channel going out by the same amount. After I've killed the old track's midrange to the same amount the other one was killed to (with the new track at 0db), then I start on the bass and do the same thing. Keep in mind each track is different, and each DJ does it differently. Sometimes I might do the bass first; other times the mid. Sometimes I'm doing both at the same time (or as much at the same time as is possible with only 2 hands). And always I'm listening to hear if the EQ "makes sense" - as in, I try to avoid having the bass change drastically in the middle of a musical measure, I try to make it happen in a musically logical place in the track. Sometimes, a sudden bass change is in order; as in, COMPLETELY kill the bass on the track going out while at the same time bringing the bass on the new track in completely (this obviously takes 2 hands). I find, however, that this works best with hip hop rather than trance and electronica; but sometimes it has it's place in both. Experiment and see what works best for you. Chances are you'll never do the same mix the same way twice. -r- |
