Hi guys,

Im having issues with getting 2 sound cards to work together in DJS. I have an audigy PCI and an internal AC'97. Whenever i select 'auto' in the bios for the AC'97 it somehow overrides my Audigy. So it will only detect one.

What soundcard do i need to get this working?

Thanks in advance!

Chances are they are both looking to use the same resources (I/O, intterupts) of the computer so they conflict and will never work at the same time, even if you forced the embedded sound chipset to be the master at boot.

My suggestion - get an external soundcard as they have less noise than internal ones, plus they're easily transportable to another computer / laptop.

Cheers for that Pulse.

So is it just a case of getting an external card and using it with the audigy? Any special reqs i need to look out for in an external card to make sure it works or will any external card do the job?

Thanks! Smiler

The M-Audio 2496 is a great budget soundcard which you can have up to 4 installed in 1 PC (if you enough PCI slots).

Stevo - If I were buying an external card, I wouldn't use it in conjunction with an internal card - I'd use ONLY the external.

There are plenty of cheap multiple input/output cards available for either USB or FW connections. Just avoid internals as they will almost always have more noise. (Even though their latency is typically lower, the latency of current externals is so low that it's not really a problem any more.)

Thanks for the info guys.
Yea i think external may just be the right direction here.

So i gather with the multiple input/output cards i would be able to hook up DJS so i have master playing out and cue playing headphones then?

Thanks again.

If you have a 2-stereo-pair output soundcard (aka 4 output), then you can either have master + cue (internal mixer mode) or deck + deck (external mixer mode). If you have 6 outputs, you could even use the list preview monitor with external mixer mode.

Do a search, I've suggested several soundcards.

Hi Guys,

Basically i bought a Maya 44 USB with 4 outputs for use with DJS. Now im having serious issues setting it up!

I spoke too soon! I updated my pc for skt939 to AM2 and had to change my mobo and now it's gone bendy again!

I have an Asus board with onboard C-media audio. Without the Maya plugged in this onboard device comes up as a usb composite device which i then use the provided c-media drivers to install.

The Maya does install fine and i have no errors at all, i can even set it to be used as the primary sound device!

I have managed to get the maya working at one point but it only comes up with 1 pair of outputs!

I have tried uninstalling the onboard thru sys devices and also tried disabling usb legacy devices in bios. None seem to work.

Any idea's? Suggestions for me?
After spending £70 on a card this is getting really irritating!

Thanks in advance!

Windows only knows how to handle 1 pair of outputs, you configure the rest of them within the DJS app itself.

What I would do is go into the BIOS and disable the onboard audio - you don't need it. Leave Legacy enabled, it won't bother anything. Reinstall the drivers for the Maya (I don't know if they have ASIO drivers, but if they do, use those).

Load up DJS and configure it to use the MAYA in ASIO if those are the drivers you installed and away you go.

Cheers for that Pulse, i should have elaborated a little more. In the bios there is no option for disabling the audio.

There are only 3 options.
1) Usb Controller (enable/disable)
2) Usb 2.0 Controller (enable/disable)
3) Usb Legacy devices (enable/disable)

The asio installs completely, however in DJS output's 3 and 4 simply do not show up. It only shows out 1 and out 2. I have tried this with other audio apps and have the same issue, so i know it's not DJS.

I have a feeling that when i disable the onboard device 'usb audio device' in 'hardware devices' it disables the Maya at the same time as XP is confusing the 2 devices.

I would just use my old setup, however i sold it to a mate of mine already! Frowner(
