Is it compatible with Macbook and how much does the software cost? I'm selling my two cdj 800's and my mixer but want to replace them with laptop mixing. Is this the best software available? Please respond to loxone@hotmail.com, thank you Smiler

It's PC based so if you run a Win OS in bootcamp or virtual (or whatever you apple people do to have Windows run on your lappy) you can use it. It's very good when used with the MEP-7000 or the CDJ-700s. Is it an ends all program, not really there are more involved sw apps out there which are harder to get around but do more and have more features.

Like anything else you need to try out different programs and judge for yourself....

I'd be lying if I said it was the best. DJS is a solid, easy to use application, but there are a couple of other software titles out there which are more popular.

DJS seems to need to run for approximately fourty hours in order to import twenty thousand mp3s. Is there a quicker way?

Try doing the same thing with other DJ software and you'll find it's about the same if not longer.

Sorry, there's no quicker way.

Import has completed successfully. It's a shame that DJS has used 13GB of hard disc space on my laptop though. Other softwares that i have used in the past have allowed for their data reference files to be stored on the same external usb drive as the music itself, is this possible with DJS?

20,000 mp3 and only 13GB of hard disc space used?! What quality are they at all?

Why do you need to import every song anyway. I'm not all that familiar with DJS but from other software I've used, I just import the music from a 7200rpm 1TB external harddrive. Surely you could do the same with DJS i.e. import the songs as you need them, mid-gig....?

DJS can't import during playback (at least not very well). The 13GB used he refers to is the size of the database. Yes, I've complained to the engineers about it before but I don't see it changing in this incarnation of the software. No, it can't be stored with the songs (well technically it can but it involves a great deal of messing around with things I don't want to get into).

If you delete it, you're left without a database and would have to re-import all the tracks.

My laptop is old, i use it all the time for more than just music, now because of DJS it only has 1GB of hard drive space left and this is unacceptable. Any tips or advice you can give me to get the data MOVED or deleted would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again pulse.
What happens if i add more music to the external drive and then import it into DJS, will the newly located database be updated? (i guess that's what the reg_key part of the process covers).

Yep - because it points to the correct location for the DB - as long as you don't open DJS without your external drive connected you should be okay.
